AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Nicholas Nick J. Blanos, 93, of Augusta, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at The Place in Martinez. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late James Blanos and Evanthia Kalos Blanos. In his early childhood the family moved to White Plains, NY. After graduating from White Plains High School he moved back to Augusta. He retired from the maintenance department at DuPont (Savannah River Plant). Nick loved to golf at Green Meadows Golf Club, where he was a member. He was also a member of the Ahepa Organization at his church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Blanos, sisters, Helen Stathakis, and Jean Kumpuris. He is survived by his sister, Katherine J. Blanos, Augusta; brother, Patrick J. Blanos, Pensacola, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank United Hospice for the care they gave Nick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 953 Telfair Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
