Mr. Nicholas (Nick) Degawn Miles was born in Aiken, South Carolina on September 25, 1979 to Allie Mae Miles and the late Benjamin Miles. He peacefully departed his earthly life on December 18, 2021 following a period of illness.
Nick accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt Sinai Baptist Church in Edgefield, SC where he sang on the Junior Choir. After high school, Nicholas attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he became a member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. After college, he moved to Charlotte, NC and began his professional career with Wells Fargo. His professional work also included positions in mortgage underwriting and management with Equifirst Corporation. Nick sought opportunities for continuous growth/professional development and secured a position at AAA Carolinas in the IT arena, where he worked diligently for nine years until God called him home.
Shortly after moving to Charlotte, fate would bring Nick and his wife, Toria, together. In 2002, they met during the new members’ class at The Park Ministries and began dating shortly thereafter. Nick was an active member of The Park Ministries where he served on the Usher and Room in the Inn ministries. Nick and Toria were united in Holy Matrimony on June 19, 2004 and to their union, one son, Parker, was born.
A car enthusiast at heart, one of Nick’s most enjoyable pastimes was working on his cars and meticulously maintaining them. He believed you were doing your car a disservice if you did not keep it clean and keep a full tank of gas. A clean car and a freshly mowed lawn were a must. He would cut his grass every three days and you just might find him hand picking weeds just to ensure the yard was perfect. He loved upgrading features on his Yukon and one of his most fond memories with his father was when they worked together to build his first car – a 1979 Chevy Malibu; which his father gave to him when he was 16 years old. Nick enjoyed taking his son, Parker, to annual car shows and talk about engine horsepower, speed and how they would upgrade the cars even further. Family vacations, grilling, hanging out with friends and spending quiet days at home were also his favorite pass times. If Nick wasn’t enjoying a series on Netflix, he was watching the latest YouTube video on how to fix, modify or improve a feature on his vehicle.
Family ties were deep, strong and important to Nick. He coached Parker’s basketball team for one year and he enjoyed attending Parker’s sporting events as well as those of his nephews. Nick’s siblings and friends all agree - Nick was a “good dude”. He was a peacemaker, kind to EVERYONE, and always had a smile on his face and a [strong] hug/dap to share. While you may have been strangers when you first met him, within minutes you felt like you had known him for a while. Nick did not judge and always encouraged people to pursue their passions. He was very wise beyond his years! Nick was a huge Broncos fan. So much so, he named one of his Boxers “Bronco”. Both Bronco and his other Boxer “Steele” enjoyed snuggling with Nick and endearing him with licks upon his head almost every night when he retired upstairs for the evening.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 17 years, Toria Jones-Miles and their son Parker; mother Allie Mae Miles of Aiken, SC; brother Anthony Miles (Natasha) of Huntersville, NC; sister Stacey Jenkins (LaMyron) of Columbia, SC; twin sister Nicole Todd (late Anthony) of Mount Holly, NC; a devoted mother-in law Willa Jones of Phenix City, AL; one niece; four nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

I’m so grateful that our paths crossed more than 20 years ago at JFF. Nick was always a kind gentleman, a wise friend and caring brother everyone could count on. I’m saddened that the world is losing a good human, because his presence and impact will be missed. But the Lord knows best, and decided it was time for him to rest.
Nick served his family, friends and community well. My deepest condolences to the entire Miles family. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. To my dear Soror Nicole, may God comfort, strengthen and keep his arms around you and give you peace that surpasses all understanding. He will carry you through. #ZPBS4L #925

There are not enough good words to describe a wonderful person like Nick. He represented his faith every day at AAA with his bright smile, as well as his unending kindness and encouragement to everyone. My prayers are with Toria and Parker, and the rest of the family and friends, as they miss his presence in their lives, and I look forward to seeing him again some day in heaven. Blessings to all who knew him...

Nicholas Miles was one of the best men I have ever known. Every thing about him was exceptional. One of my first questions for the almighty when I arrive will be : Why did you take Nick so young? There is absolutely no question that the world is a lesser place without him!

I last saw Nick at our 20 yr high school reunion, where he spoke so fondly of his beautiful wife and son. Some of my best days at Aiken High included Nick and Nicole. It continued at USC, where Nicole was my first college roommate, Nick was never too far away. He will truly be missed. I know he's in the arms of Jesus and I pray the comfort only God can provide will overtake his family. Rest well, Nick.

Man this is a tough one. I recall walking my niece Toria down the aisle at your wedding and giving her to you and I felt like she'd be in good hands and I was right. I also remember the times when we would talk about sports and the rivals we had, you being a Broncos fan and I was Raiders. I don't ever recall hearing you complaining abt your health issues but always had a calm demeanor about like. You were a great Father and role model to Parker and I'm grateful for that. You'll truly be missed. Rest in Heaven sir!

Nick. Man, this is tough to write. I honestly still feel like I'm going to walk outside and see you on the porch. Then I'll wander over and we'll sit and chat about football, and life, and raising kids. Your peacefulness is what I'll miss most. The way you so calmly looked at the world and didn't seem to even worry about much of anything. That attitude was contagious to me and always helped me walk away less stressed. Be well, my friend. I know you're doing just fine now, even though the rest of us down here miss you terribly.
