Memorial Service: 3 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at White's Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Blvd., Southlake, Texas 76092. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at Greenwood.
The first thing you think of with Nick was his sense of humor. He had a way of bringing levity to every situation. Every conversation included laughter. Nick was a loyal and caring young man. His family and friends are better for it. He cared deeply for the people around him and wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off his back. He was generous and good-natured. He was creative. He played drums and bass; he was in marching band for a time, but found that loosely-coupled music with friends was more of his thing. He was on the video production team for Keller High School with NDNTV. He was an out-of-the-box thinker. He was always excited to show us what he was working on. Nick was an adventurer. He spent more than 140 nights camping as a scout. In November he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He had two Scouting High Adventures under his belt, 72 plus miles backpacking at Philmont, 100 plus miles canoeing at Northern Tier in Minnesota and Canada. A 60-mile backpacking trip in Colorado with two friends. Nick was looking forward to a summer of backpacking in the Olympic National Forest in Washington state with his friends in June, and going deep-sea fishing in the Florida Keys with Boy Scouts in July. He was a senior at Keller High School and was eager to begin his college journey in Colorado. His aspiration was to be an excursion guide for wilderness adventures and to make documentaries.
Though still young, he lived a full life. He was kind, he had strength beyond his years, and he will be remembered: in every spark of laughter, in every campfire, in all his favorite music. He is deeply loved.
Nick is survived by his mother, Ann Hightower; father, Dave Harrison; sister, Kate Harrison; brother, Sam Harrison; grandparents, Barbara Hightower, Dennis and Carola Harrison; aunts and uncles, Bill and Jenifer Vogelpohl, Don and Beverley Campbell, Jim and Mary Hightower; cousins, Margaret and Drake Vogelpohl, Alex and Cynthia Hightower and Griffin Campbell.
