Jesse has been my wonderful, bright, student at UNF, so I've heard about Nicki for the past two years. Jesse's love for, and devotion to, his sister are remarkable, and I am so sorry to hear of her death. My thoughts are with you, Jesse, and with your family.

My first memory of Nicki was when she and my little sister were re-enacting a Shakespeare play for a school project, and I was videotaping. I think they were maybe in the fifth grade or so. We knew then that she was such a talented girl, and I was so proud of her when she became a D.A. girl like I did. Nicki was so strong and beautiful. My love to her family.

Nicki was my cousin and i love her, and will miss her so much, i wish we could have spent more time together, but i do have great memories of her and the time when we all played "imagin if" the last time we went for a visit. And i will never forget that or her, ill always remember her bright smile.

We didn't know Nicki, but Leigh, Bobette, Brittany, and Brooke spoke of her often and told us what a lovely young lady she was and how the two families enjoyed getting together. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

When I was a senior, Nicki was a freshman in my stage movement class. She was so beautiful and talented. Now, as a teacher at DA, I see what an an impression she has left on the theatre department and the school as a whole. Her perserverence is remarkably inspirational, and I know she is looking upon those who loved her. She left far too early in life, but I'm sure she is gracing God with her beautiful voice. Don't know if you remember me, Jesse, I remember you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I wish that I could have attended the services today.

Nicki was such a beautiful person on the inside and out. I remember telling her daily in school that she was so talented at everything she did. She made everyone around her always smile by her presence alone.

I will never forget our 2002 prom together... finding the perfect attire together, posing for photos at her house, at the Shorstein's house, at Alexis' house, inside the limo, outside the limo and at prom. I remember when I picked her up and began to drive away and we both started to sweat because my car did not have air conditioning... we had to take a few stops before our final destination so that we still looked "good" for the prom.

We shared some of the most intellectual conversations I had ever had in high school. She helped me make some tough decisions and influenced my life tremedously!

Nicki: Thank you for all that you have done for everyone! You will always be in my heart! You were always an angel!

Nicki was a beautiful, sweet and kind person. I'll always remember her from workcrew and from "sharing" a prom date with her my senior year with gheorghe...I can't believe that I was so lucky to have known such a strong person. She and all of her family and friends are in my thoughts.

I have a picture of Nicki, Gheorge, Alexis, and I when we went to prom together, and looking at it now I am heartbroken that this world has lost another radiant and beautiful person.

When my brother passed away I remember my mother telling those at the hospital that we were losing a friend, but we would all have a beautiful angel watching over us. Nicki has joined those ranks I know, and though it seems a small comfort in the face of such an enormous loss she is always going to be with you and is a part of everything you are and everything you will become. Patrick always thought the world of Nicki and I can only imagine what their reunion was like.

My family is sending all the love and comfort in their hearts. We are here for you should you ever need anything.

Love, Grayson and Susan

The first time I met Nicki was at the beachhouse my family goes to every year. My nephew Blake Bagby had told us all about one of his best friends Nicki. She came to the beach house, she was amazing, so sweet, so kind, so pretty. Her smile lite up everywhere. She stood on the beach looking into the ocean just like a angel. I will never forget it. This was before she knew she was sick, then the night she went to prom with Ryan. They met Blake and all the kids at Cafe Carmon. My friend Peggy and I went there to take pictures. She was so so very beautiful just like cinderella. I use to call and talk to her. She also called me Aunt Kitten. We had great talks, we could open up to each other. Even now I sit here with such a smile on my face thinking of her, wow one in a billion, she truly was. She is now with god waiting one day for us. She will always be here whenever I think of her there she is always in my heart alive in my memories. Aunt Kitten

My wife Angie and I had the pleasure of teaching Sunday school for the 5th grade level at Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church. Nicki Leach was one of my students. I remember her personality very well. She was our shining star. She was always the first to volunteer, always the first to help, always the first to take any task and run with it to the end. We always knew Nicki could handle it and do it well. She had a precious spirit that stood out to my wife and I. Nicki was a special person that made a lasting impression on you, touched your spirit, and imprinted a beautiful memory in your heart. We will miss her dearly and think of her always.

I only knew Nikki Leach through the UNF Media Literacy class in which I had her as a student. She was a gentle, intelligent girl, and when I heard the news from the Communications Department office administrator, Donna, I felt so sad. Today is the feast of the Ascension of our Lord, so I will believe that Nikki will also ascend and be received into God's family. This is very difficult for me, and I hardly know her! What it means to her friends and family, I cannot imagine. But be assured that my prayers are with you as you go through this time of loss. She was a beautiful human being, and I mourn her loss.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Leach

I work for Heritage Bank in Ponte Vedra. This is how I knew of Nikki Leach. I opened the account for the Nikki Leach Medical Fund. I had not met Nikki until about 2-3 weeks ago. I was so happy to meet her after 2yrs. of knowing the problems she had. She was a very beautiful young woman. When she came into the Bank with her Mom, she looked so good that I was shocked to hear that she had passed. I signed this book to let you know how very sorry I am for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss, I heard about Nikki from some peds community workers that were taking care of a family member of mine he was the same age and was fighting the same battle of a brain tumor. I think that it is so Ironic that they are from the same place, fighting the same battle and passed within days of each other. I know that they are in heaven with each other pain free and looking down on all of us. I pray that God will give your family peace right now in your time of need just know that Nikki is in a much better place and you will meet again.

Nicki touched my heart this morning. I saw her picture in the obituaries ...then her age ... then "2 1/2 year battle"... I read the rest of a brief summary of her life and she touched my soul very close to home. Another angel by whom we have been entertained unaware.

Douglas Anderson School of the Arts - she sang & danced, she saw God's beauty in her precious daily life.

Pictures - with her Mom and with her Christian friends - they tell more of the story, too.

I have a family picture of my wife and me with our daughter and the dog from about two years before she died of cancer. From it I saved her smile and love in a picture of her we carry yet in our hearts. That was 1999, when our daughter was only 6. We are remembered in the lives of those who follow. My wife lives in my daughter's life still. I pray that your daughter will continue to live in joy in your lives.

I call on you to celebrate her life that is now eternal life with God, because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Were we not privileged hosts of such souls to have walked God's earth with them?

May the peace of the Lord sustain you and comfort you.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Leach:

My name is Le'Shawn Spruiell and I work here at the University of North Florida in the DRC office with Dr. Robert E. Lee. I was just informed of her passing on yesterday and was very truly saddened to hear the news. I didn't know her very well; however, she came by the office back in March of this year and I was helping her with her Accommodation Request Form. She was very nice, kind and pretty. I know that this is hard for you all, but I know that God will bring you all through. May He continue to bless and keep you and your family through this difficult time.

Although Nicki and I lost touch years ago, I cannot help feeling sorrowful. I still picture her as the girl down the street who used to jump on my trampoline and play capture the flag with all the other Seawalk kids. Dear Bunny, Mike & Jesse

It's so hard to put into words what my little Nick Nick meant to me. You know I felt like her second mom, since we had so much in common. I feel so blessed to have known her for the years that I have. She is the strongest, bravest person that I have ever known. Throughout her sickness, she never wanted anyone to feel sorry for her. She was such an inspiration to everyone. I have never seen someone bring a community together the way Nicki did. I will so miss our dinners together. She was so funny, always making fun of her mom and I. Bunny, I will always be here for you. Love, Lorrie

There aren’t any words to describe how sorry we are for you. We can’t imagine the loss you’ve got to be feeling right now. At least though, we know that you must take some comfort from reading all these notes from so many people describing what a special person Nicki was and what an impact she had on others.

Brittany and Brooke immediately began going through and pulling out old pictures yesterday from all the times that they were together years ago in Atlanta and during all our summer vacations in Ponte Vedra. And even though the news about Nicki brought tears, it simply isn’t possible to remember her without smiling a little....she always made us laugh and the girls had so much fun together!

We were blessed to have known Nicki and we’ll always cherish our memories of her. We also know that she’s now safe, comfortable and probably entertaining others in heaven.

I knew Nicki from Gloria Miller Music & Theatre. I also knew her from school. We met when we did a cheesy show choir performance called Rock the Jukebox. It was a collection of famous songs from the 60's till now, well 90's. She dressed in an 80's outfit, which by the way was very funny. She let me borrow her poodle skirt for the 50's. She was so much fun to be around and work with. I still have the picture of us in our costumes. I will never forget how much fun we had working on this show. My sympathies to her family. She is now in a better place. She will be missed but her memory lives on.

I couldn't believe how beautiful Nicki was inside and out. I was sad to find out that she had to leave school due to her illness, but I was quite happy to see her come back. I am still shocked about her passing away. I cannot say anything else, but that I hope her family gets through this, fights like she did, and I just know that she is in a better place. Bless you all.

I first noticed Nicki one day when she entered our sophmore english class at Douglas Anderson. What stood out of course, was how beautiful she was. I didn't get to know her until she sat in front of me in math, and I realized not only was she incredibly beautiful on the outside, but also on the inside. I will always remember her kind caring smile, her interest in what others had to say, and passion for life. God bless you all,you will be in my prayers.

This is so terribly tragic. As I'm sure all of you know, Nicki was absolutely radiant--perfect in every way. She was by far the best and brightest student in my class, and I know Dr. Menocal feels the same way. UNF (and the world) will certainly be a little darker without her. The irreducible fact of mortality is one thing, but the loss of someone so young and beautiful and courageous and intelligent is utterly heartbreaking.

I've been in highschool with Nicki since the beginning. And most recently musical theatre. I think to the people who knew Nikki this is a horrible shock. The last year we were with her all seemed well. She is one of the few people at DA who had true talent, but along with her awesome voice, and acting skills, she was the sweetest girl in the department. There was never a moment I knew Nicki to put down another, or talk behind someones back. It's very sad to lose her, and my heart goes out to her family. I had the pleasure and good fortune of being Nicki's literature professor at UNF for 2 semesters. She was one of my most gifted and enthusiastic students, filled with intellectual curiosity and kindly spirit. To this day,I recall her brother visiting my office to deliver one of Nicki's essays, due that day, but because of her condition, which I just learned about that very moment, she wasn't able to bring the essay in person. Her desire to be treated no differently than other students and her desire to continue to live with courage and hope made a powerful impression on me. A genuinely lovely person.
