Norman Harrell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Norman Craig "Butch" Harrell, 71, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on August 16, 2025. Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, on July 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Norman and Patricia Harrell and brother of the late Carol Harrell.

Butch worked as Director of Application Development in the Healthcare IT & Revenu Cycle Management for over 30 years and started his career as a registered respiratory therapist. In 1979, he married the love of his life, Dorie M. Harrell. Together they raised two daughters, Blair Linn and her husband, Adam Linn, and Ashley Graziano and her husband, Joe Graziano. He was a devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren: Bennett, Lawson, Maci Kate, Ace, Maggie, Logan, Owen, Mason, and Ethan.

A passionate aviator, Butch loved flying his RV6 experimental aircraft, building RC airplanes, and joining friends on breakfast flights. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, cooking-especially his key lime pie, bacon, and brisket-and walking his dog, Tucker. Most of all, he cherished his family.

He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. A funeral service was held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home, Macland Chapel, Powder Springs, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
