SIMON age 87. Beloved husband of Harriet D. (nee Devorkin). Loving father of Judith Simon (Steven Heyman), Dr. Daniel Simon (Dr. Marcy Schwartz) and Dr. Amy Simon (Bernie Guekguezian). Proud grandfather of Joseph Heyman, Benjamin, Maxwell and Aaron Simon, Lee, David and Jonathan Guekguezian. Dear brother of the late Sheldon (Marilyn) Simon and the late Beatrice (the late Dr. Louis) Chabner. Fond uncle of Lisa, David, Jonathan and Adam Simon. Special cousin to Seymour (the late Shirley) Cohen. Devoted son of the late Boris and Mildred Simon. Norman was a graduate of Harvard College and Northwestern University School of Medicine. He was a dedicated and compassionate physician devoted to his dear patients. He was a beloved educator and mentor of faculty, residents and students as a professor of medicine. ServiceThursday, January 5, 12 PM at Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3751 North Broadway, Chicago, IL 60613. Interment Memorial Park. Shiva will be held at 30 Rydalwood Lane, Moreland Hills, from 3-5 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 8 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 with services at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norman M. Simon MD Research and Educational Fund in Nephrology and Hypertension, c/o NorthShore University Health System Foundation, 1033 University Place, Suite 450, Evanston, IL 60201.

Dr. Simon was my nephrologist for years and I absolutely adored him. He would always walk me from my appointment down the hall to get my labs, arm linked in mine, while he asked about my family and greeted his many admiring colleagues along the way. He was so dedicated and genuinely caring and will surely be missed. Much love to his family!

Dr. Norman Simon will forever be remembered in my family's hearts, as he tenderly cared for my mother, Shirley Oswald, for years. Though she passed on 12 years ago, we still remember and comment on Dr. Simon's care for her. He was a great physician and even more, a great man. Our condolences go out to his entire family.

I have known Dr. Simon at Evanston Hospital many years 17+. Never have I seen a more dedicated Physician here always available for his patients even being present weekends. He was always wanting the best for everyone around him. I often got pages from him just to stop by and see someone for encouragement to eat and education on their diet. He knew his patients so well. He took an interest in his residents and staff too always making sure everyone was happy and doing well. We sat together at a friend's wedding once and he danced with me twirling me on the dance floor 40 yrs younger than I but just as energetic. You will be missed!!!!

Dr. Simon was a teacher of mine when I was a medical student back in early 2000s. Now an attending at NorthShore myself, I still fondly remember his nephrology lectures and of course the giant poster of Norman "Boomer" Esiason that he kept in his office (with his own face superimposed of course). My sympathy to his family. He was a wonderful physician and teacher and will be missed.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs. Simon and her family. Dr Simon will be greatly missed. He was a great doctor, mentor & friend to his patients. I was a patient of his for 42 years and thank him for all he did for me, he was one of a kind & the world has lost a wonderful man.
