He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Carabello) Zimmerman. He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Zimmerman.
Born in Akron, Ohio, on June 4, 1925, a son of the late Morris and Rebecca (Neman) Zimmerman.
Norman was a World War II veteran and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He served in the Battle of Anzio, Italy.
He was a Freemason Scottish Rite and Senior Leader of the Shriners for over 55 years.
He was an inspiration to all who knew him in the way he lived his life. Having lost an arm in the war and later developing blindness and cancer, he never complained. His positive attitude and ability to compensate despite his disabilities and illness were amazing. Everyone who knew him loved him.
He spent 45 years with his wife and they were always together, sharing time, traveling in the early years, and later spending time with the children and grandchildren. In his retirement, he and his wife lived in Orlando, Florida, where they both took part-time jobs at Disney World. There were many years of wonderful memories made with the children and grandchildren in Disney that will be forever cherished.
Also surviving are 7 children: Marle, wife of Allen Herschberg of California; Leigh Jane, wife of Phil Coffman, of Florida; Fran Cunningham of Ohio; Deborah, wife of Samuel Jarsocrak; Richard, husband of Martha DeBinder; Connie D'Augustine, all of Reading; and Michael, husband of Arleen DeBinder of Florida. There are 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services were private and burial was in Shomrei Habrith.
Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106, in his memory.
Auman's Inc Funeral Home was entrusted with his service. www.aumansinc.com

I was so very sad to read of Norm passing away. The time my husband and I spent with you both will always be fond memoties I will cherish. He was a very caring man and the gadget he invented and gave Bob was very useful to him. God bless you.

My father was a great man, he taught me patience and to be optimistic even when things may seem otherwise. His greatest sayings among many, though others said if first was "To thy known self be true," and "It isn't what you've lost that matters, but what you have left that counts."
He was my mentor and a friend who taught me the true meaning of sacrifice, unselfishness and "It is what it is, but that is no excuse not to try and do the right thing." I may not have always listen, but the lessons learned from it was really part of his point.
A war hero who had ice in his veins he never complained, and when he was wounded in WWII the first time he was shot he had the chance to come home but didn't want to leave his brothers in harms way nor did he want to leave what he believed was unfinished business with the Germans. It would cost him his forearm in that battle known as "Operation Shingle" in Italy. It was his influence that encourage me to join the Marines to serve my country too.
You will be missed, but never forgotten - we celebrate your life and the legacy you leave with those you influenced for the better. We love you. God speed.
With love always, your son -
Michael
