Paul H. DeLaire
Marcy
Paul H. DeLaire, 64, of Marcy, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 19, 2008, at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on October 18, 1943, in Prospect, to the late Woodrow and Ella DeLaire. Paul is survived by his wife of 36 years, Suzanne; and children, Michelle of Raleigh, NC, and Michael of Oneonta; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Earll Fountain of Honeoye Falls; mother-in-law, Lucille White; brother-in-law, Charles E. White, Jr. and wife Julie; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Paul was a graduate of Holland Patent High School and MVCC. He served in the Air Force and was an active member of the American Legion Post 161. In his many years in electronics, he worked a variety of manufacturing companies, including UNIVAC, MDS, National Standard, Jet Sew, Utica Converters, and Critical Imaging, before retiring in June '06. Paul was a free willed loving person, loved by his family and many very special friends who will miss him dearly. His many loves in life include his family, camp at the St. Lawrence River, boating and fishing on 'The Arc' with a cold beer in hand, snowmobiling, biking, the challenge of fixing anything, and always being there to lend a helping hand. He was often referred to as 'Mr. Tinker' because he could fix almost anything. No one was ever a stranger. There will be a Memorial Service for Paul on Wednesday, 4:00 p.m., at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main Street, Whitesboro, with Rev. James Jensen, officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m., until the time of the service. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staffs of the emergency room at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, and Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse. Their care and compassion was greatly appreciated during this difficult time. Special thanks also go to their friends at the River for all of their help. In lieu of flowers, the family desires those wishing to donate in Paul's name to Maynard Fire Department, PO Box 377, Marcy, NY 13403, The American Legion Post 161, 9550 Depot St., Holland Patent, NY 13354, or a charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

To Sue, Mike, and Michelle, I am very sorry for your loss. I am shocked beyond words. I am sorry that I couldn't be there for the memorial service. Paul was ALWAYS there for me, from the time I was a really young kid through my adult life...he was like familiy to me. All the help he always gave me with my snowmobile problems or anything else that came up, he was just there for me. He never questioned, just offered a beer(Ususaly warm) and freindly advice The many, many snowmobile trips we took together will forever be in my memory. I will and do miss him already, but will never ever forget him.
