Hazel Rickson

Hazel Mae Balthis Rickson BRISTOL, Va. Hazel Mae Balthis Rickson, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Wed nesday, June 8, 2011, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn. She was born in Scott County, Va. on Jan. 8, 1928, to the late Charles Lee Balthis and Ella Denton Balthis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Reuben Rickson; four brothers, Archie, Sherman, Jasee and Norman Balthis. She retired from Helms Candy Company, and was a member of Walkers Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Rickson is survived by her brother, Clyde Balthis and wife, Mabel; sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Balthis, Audrey Wingo and husband, Claude, and Shirley Rickson; brother-in-law, Eugene Rickson and wife, Mary Jo; special nieces and nephews, Betty Fields and husband, George, Anna Dishner and husband, Gene; Barbara Fauver and husband, Bill, Charles Balthis and wife, Shirley, Billy Balthis and wife, Phyllis, David Balthis and wife, Tonya, Gary Balthis and wife, Charla, Tommy Balthis and wife, Anne, Don Balthis and wife, Rita, Tony Balthis and wife, Tammy, Kevin Balthis and wife, April; several other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family, neighbors and friends especially Martha Helbert, Lanelle Poore and Lucille Hicks. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Steven Hanor, and all other attending physicians, the nurses and staff in MICU, 3rd and 4th floor west. Mrs. Rickson will lie in state at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home from 1 until 4 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011, for those wishing to come by. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 p.m., Friday evening June 10, 2011, at Walkers Mountain Baptist Church, 23323 Mary's Chapel Road, Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Billy Denton, the Rev. Donald Denton, and the Rev. Kenny Hammond officiating. The committal service and interment will be held on June 11, 2011, at 11 a.m., Saturday morning at Denton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be great nephews Tim Balthis, Mark Fauver, Chris Fauver, Brett Balthis, Cody Balthis, Mike Capell, Simon Allerton, Travis Balthis, and Jessee Balthis.
