Edwin BLEILER

BLEILER _ Edwin Charles (Ed) died peacefully at the Evergreen Baptist Home in White Rock on September 27, 2003. Born in Mannville, AB on December 6, 1911, Ed was the fifth child of William and Eugena Bleiler. His other siblings were, Eugena, Ted, Alice, Bill, George, Clarence and Irwin, all of whom he outlived. As a young man of 22 he ventured north to the Yukon where he joined his oldest brother, Ted to mine for gold on Dublin Gulch in the Mayo area. He left Dublin Gulch to work on Highet Creek, where he met his wife, Flora the youngest daughter of Elmer and Nellie Middlecoff, established miners. They were married in 1936 and Ed found himself mining on Highet Creek for the next 50 years, the life he loved. He and Flora had 2 children, Lowell and Sybil raising them in Mayo and then Whitehorse. Flora died in 1968. Several years later, Ed married Martha De Alba of Mazatlan. He and Martha spent over 20 winters at their home in Mexico, returning to Mayo for the summer mining seasons. Ed leaves his wife Martha of Mazatlan, son Lowell (Lyn) of White Rock, daughter Sybil Edwards (Mike) of Bisley, UK, a granddaughter, Bridget Haworth of Toronto, and 2 grandsons, Stewart Perkins in Japan and Andrew Perkins (Marija) of Toronto.
