ORLANDO, Fla. -- Amelia Mary “Mickey” Wojchick, 84, a resident of Orlando for the past 25 years and formerly of Brattleboro, Vt., died Saturday morning, June 10, 2006, at Vitas Health Care of Central Florida in Orlando, following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Wojchick was born in Hinsdale, N.H., on Sept. 13, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Pelagia (Malinowski) Bokum. She was raised and educated in Hinsdale, attending Hinsdale High School.

On Jan. 13, 1940, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hinsdale, she was married to Joseph Wojchick. Her husband of 57 years predeceased her in May of 1997.

Survivors include a son, Edward Wojchick and his wife Sherrill of Orlando; a daughter, Donna Hood and her husband Richard Jr. of Hinsdale; five sisters, Florence Dostal and Pauline Devlin, both of Northampton, Mass., Clara Shea of Hatfield, Mass., Edna Deluzio of Keene, N.H., and Helen Roy of Hinsdale; two brothers, Joseph Bokum of Hinsdale and Fred Bokum of Dummerston, Vt.; seven grandchildren, Amy Hemlow, Jaimie Hood, Dawn Montenieri, Joey Hood, Michelle Dunkel, Mark Wojchick and Shannon Vacarro; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Walnut Street. Burial will follow in the Wojchick family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hinsdale.

My thoughts were with you and your family as I read your mom's obituary today. It is one of the major events of our lives, no matter at what stage it occurs. I'm sure she felt blessed to have you as her son, and I hope you can feel some comfort in this.

I was sorry to read of the passing of Mickey. I remember her from my childhood. She was a dear friend of my mother's and worked with her at Margolin's. I was reading the Reformer on line, (as I live in Florida). I read that she had passed while under the care of Vitas Hospice. I worked as a hospice nurse for Vitas for 15 years and so when I saw Mickey's name, I was surprised. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Mickey's family.
