Ofelia Sendejas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 1 to Mar. 3, 2024.
Ofelia Garibay Sendejas UPPER Ofelia Garibay Sendejas, 89, of Hitchcock, TX, passed away peacefully on February 26th, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Ofelia was born in Wharton, TX, on December 17th, 1934, to Manuel and Manuela Garibay. In 1948, Ofelia married Fidencio Sendejas Sr., and together, they began their journey of building a family. Their marriage was a tapestry woven with over half a century's worth of shared memories, laughter, and unwavering partnership, which remained a testament to their enduring love.

Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Manuela, her husband, Fidencio Sr., daughter Virginia, two sons, Fidencio Jr. and Arthur Sendejas, and grandson Issac Sendejas.

Ofelia is survived by her twin sister Ofilia Rivera; daughter Dora Villarreal (Pedro); daughter Anna Flores (Cris); son David Sendejas (Joan); daughter Norma Estrada (Ricky); daughter Amber Zavala; daughter-in-law Sonia (Arthur); Kimberly, Eric, Julie, Margo, Shellie, Cris, Yvette, Casey, Sarah, Courtney, Jennifer, Aliyah, Arianna, and 15 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Olivia Mata and Margie Sendejas.

Ofelia embodied the best qualities in life: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and countless others. She had an immense passion for her family, the Catholic faith, and gardening. She possessed the extraordinary talent to make anything grow and blossom with just a single touch.

Ofelia, with her unparalleled cooking skills and a touch of magic in her hands, was an extraordinary cook and exceptional baker, gifted at artfully creating flavorful dishes and delicious baked goods. She was big-hearted, vibrant, and radiated light wherever she went. She welcomed everyone with open arms, an open heart, and a smile. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.

And so the story goes on-until we see you again. We love you, Grandma.
