Memphis - Oliver Houston Peyton, Jr., known affectionately as Yumbie, passed away on November 28, 2023, in Memphis, TN, at the age of 52. He was born on February 12, 1971, in Memphis, TN.

Yumbie was a caring, kind-hearted individual who had a deep love for his family. He was also known for his athletic abilities and his devotion to his loved ones. Yumbie will be remembered for his warm and compassionate nature.

He is survived by his father, Oliver H. Peyton, Sr., his brother Reginald M. Peyton II., his daughter Olisha Graves-Harmon (Christopher), his son Jordan Peyton, and his nephew Atlyss Peyton. Yumbie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Lirline Peyton, his maternal grandparents, David and Lily Pearl Weaver, his mother Juanita LaVerne Peyton, his sister Juanita Peyton, Jr., and his uncle Dr. Reginald M. Peyton.

Yumbie attended Catholic High School and later pursued higher education at Christian Brothers University.

In his career, Yumbie worked as a salesman at Peyton Company Realtors and as a Mortgage Broker with McSwain Mortgage. He also had a passion for credit counseling and helping others manage their finances.

Yumbie was baptized and confirmed at St. Augustine Catholic Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Saint Augustine 21st Century Fund or a charity of choice in Yumbie's memory.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Serenity Funeral Home, located at 1638 Sycamore View Rd., Memphis, TN 38134.
