GREENSBORO — Ora Dixon Price, 94, died on Friday, January 18, 2008, at Duke Raleigh Hospital Raleigh, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 21, at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm St. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Berry Davis Dixon and Nettie Dye Dixon, the oldest of seven children, born March 23, 1913.
She was a member of College Place United Methodist Church in Greensboro for many years and resided in Greensboro for most of her life. She had recently moved to Falls River Court in Raleigh to be near her son. She was strong in her faith and devoted to her family, church, friends and community. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and sister, and was so loyal to those she loved. She will be missed by her family and friends. Her family is grateful that she was able to live in her home alone, and to garden (especially her tomatoes), rake leaves and cook for many well into her nineties. She loved to travel and loved watching UNC basketball.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy Patterson Price; her son, William James Price; granddaughter, Korey Patterson Price; brothers, Berry Dixon, Jr., Carl Dixon and Roy Dixon; sister, Lottie Mae Hawkins; and step-mother, Bessie Dixon.
Ora is survived by her son, Roy Patterson Price, Jr., and wife, Hilda; granddaughters, Pamela Price Kirkpatrick and husband, Mike, Patricia Price Wittmer and husband, Paul, Britt Price Koester and husband, Joe, Jennifer Price Tracy and husband, Reid; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Lindsey, Lauren, Matthew, Will, Owen, Madeleine, Griffin, Reid and Dixon. Also surviving are her sister, Frances Thomas; brother, Ross Dixon; half-sister, Evelyn Moore; half-brother, Jack Dixon; and daughters-in-law, Joanna Price and Patricia Price.
A visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service on Monday. Family and friends will gather at the home of Pam & Mike Kirkpatrick following the burial service.
The family extends their gratitude to Brighton Gardens in Greensboro and Falls River Court in Raleigh for their compassionate care of Ora, and to the nursing staff of Duke Raleigh Hospital for their kind and gentle care of our "GRANNY".
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Place United Methodist Church, 509 S. Tate St., Greensboro, NC 27405.
