Guest Book
Funeral services will be at 11 am. Thursday, April 17, at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
Mr. McElveen was born in Florence County, a son of the late Manning Alvin and Fannie "Maggie" Prosser McElveen. He was employed by Kentucky Finance as supervisor over the Southeast region until he retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Pioneer Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Meca Masonic Lodge No. 407, the Omar Shrine and the Prom-O-Nabors Square Dance Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by a son, Johnny Dan McElveen, who died in November 1986, and sister, Rea McElveen.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Lambert McElveen of the home; three daughters, Jeanette (Doug) Clarke of Alfred, N.Y., Wanda Rea (Frank) Barnes of Ada, Okla., and Elaine Keys of Florence; three brothers, Winston (Betty) McElveen and Clifton (Linda) McElveen, both of Chapin, and Linwood (Mary) McElveen of Irmo; four grandsons, Adam Blackman, Anthony Blackman, Kristopher Robb and Ian Clarke.
Mr. and Mrs. McElveen just celebrated a very special 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 10, 2003.

I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Mac had passed away. He gave me my first job at Kentucky Finance, and he has always kept in touch since. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Dottie, we are so sorry about the passing of Hubert "Mac", he was a fine man , an enjoyment each time to see him with his smile, at Cardic Rehab, we would "row" together and talk all about the trips you two had just got back from, or was planning to take. he was a good friend and we will both miss him very much. Our prayers are with you at this great loss.
