Otto S. Rotzal, age 88, of Fairfield, beloved husband for 63 years of the late Jean Hamilton Rotzal, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, surrounded by his loving children and grandsons. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Emil and Anna Rotzal, he was a resident of Fairfield for the last fifty years. Mr. Rotzal retired as chief accountant for the Reynolds Aluminum Building Products Company (formerly Tilo Roofing Co.) in Stratford after forty years of employment. During World War II, Otto proudly served his country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. While stationed at an Air Force Base in Texas, Otto had the opportunity to attend classes at the University of Mississippi in Oxford and upon returning home at the end of his military service, received a degree in accounting from the Warren Institute in Bridgeport, CT. A life-long member and supporter, until it's closing, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bridgeport of which his parents were founding members, Otto was a devout, generous, kind, loving and hard-working man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially his beloved family. He will be lovingly remembered for his dry whit and subtle sense of humor. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted daughter Nancy Barate and her husband John, of Fairfield, his beloved son Thomas Rotzal and his wife Cindy of Milford, his grandsons T.J. Rotzal and his wife Tanya of Milford and Jason Rotzal of Bridgeport, step-grandson Shawn Miller of Milford, great-grandchildren Tiana and Tommie Rotzal of Milford as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife Jean and his parents, Otto was predeceased by his brothers, Henry, Reinhold, Walter, Erich and Arthur Rotzal, three of whom also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Fairfield.. Interment with military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends my greet the family on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
