Ms. Pathenia Rowe Vinson

Pathenia Rowe Vinson was the 4th of 6 children born to the Late Edward and Bertha Rowe. She matriculated through Johnston County schools where she was active in dramatics, debate team, chorus, glee club, and varsity girls' basketball. She later attended The State Teacher's College in Elizabeth City, NC, Shaw University, and received her Master's degree from New York University. As a life long learner, she continued her education at Brooklyn College. Her teaching career spanned over 4 decades where she touched the lives of countless young people. She inspired students in the classroom, as well as, through 4-H, Girl Scouts, summer programs, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a dedicated member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Smithfield NC, The NAUW, Democratic Women of Johnston Co., The Mental Health Association, The Association of Retired Teachers (NY and NC), and a charter member of The Modernettes Club. She was known by all for her love for people and the extraordinary bond she shared with her late sisters Hilda Rowe and Helen Rowe Holt. She was married to the love of her life, Mr. Russell J. Vinson for 40 years. Her daughter, the late Mrs. Hilda Holloway blessed them with 3 grandchildren; Sharon Tanner (Les), Enoch Holloway, Jr. (Valeria), and Jenelle Preston (Jason) and 6 great-grandchildren; Jaron, Shayla, Enoch III, Jacob, Nicholas, and Ava all of Raleigh, NC and her beloved god son Dr. Victor M. Davis (Tiqua) and their children Adeyah and Zion of Columbus, OH. In addition, she leaves to mourn her dearest care taker, friend, and daughter Carolyn Artis (Anthony) of Selma, NC and their 6 children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves her caretakers, Bertha Stokes, Olean Royal, and Barbara Sanders along with a host of cousins and loved ones from near and far.
