Patricia Benjamin

Patricia "Pat" Reva Benjamin (née Loewy), a dedicated leader in both political and business spheres, passed away on May 16, 2025, in New York, New York (formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ and Detroit, MI). She was 83 years old.

Born on June 9, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, Pat was the daughter of Louis and Minnie Loewy, founders of Lou's Deli. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Wayne State University, where she majored in History and Political Science. Her academic journey continued at Columbia University, where she earned a Master's degree in Russian Studies, reflecting her deep engagement with global affairs during a pivotal era.

Pat's professional life was marked by a strong commitment to public service and corporate leadership. In the 1970's she was an active member of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and actively advocated for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) for women's rights. From 1993 to 1995, she served as a team leader with United We Stand America. Her civic involvement continued with the Reform Party, where she held the position of Vice Chairman from 1997 to 1999, playing a key role in advancing reform-oriented initiatives. She wrote a book about her experiences in 2012 titled "The Perot Legacy: A New Political Path", and emceed a podcast where she had interviewees from across the political spectrum, both locally and nationally.

In the business world, Pat led with vision and purpose. From the late 1970's to mid 1980s, along with her husband Milton Benjamin, she pioneered a company in the energy conservation field. Then she served as CEO of the Prescott Group from 1985 to 2005, overseeing its growth and development. She later became CEO of the Barkley Group, holding that position from 2006 until her retirement in 2021.

Pat is survived by her husband, Milton Benjamin; her sons, Michael Benjamin and Steven Benjamin; her granddaughter, Alexandra Goldberg; and two great-grandsons, Grayson Benjamin and Zachary Goldberg. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Sheldon Loewy.

A memorial service honoring Pat will be held later this year.
