Patricia Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 13, 2025.
To you, you, and you! I want you to know that my Wife, Evangelist Patricia LaJean Wilson Brown, was born here in Gary, IN on March 21, 1949. She was the middle child of three born to Curtis and Amy Bell Wilson.

My wife was educated in the Gary Community School system and a proud graduate of Tolleston High School Class of 1967. Patricia went on to receive several other degrees including her Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. She began her teaching journey at both Ivy Tech Community College and Cisco Academy, both in Gary.

My wife was a childhood member of Saint's Home Church of God in Christ. Loving God from an early age, she was further transformed as a young adult through her involvement in the Peace Corps, where she was ministered to by members of the United Pentecostal Church. Patricia spent time teaching while stationed in Germany, and was baptized in Jesus name before returning to the United States in the late 1970s.

Patricia became a member of The Temple of God Faith in Jesus Christ Church under the leadership of Pastor James C. Tidwell. As a member for over 40 years, my wife participated in several auxiliaries including the Women's Ministry, church greeter and working with the choir and church singing group. My Wife and I got Married September 28, 1985, and she made me a better person.

My wife transitioned into glory on August 6, 2025. She was proceeded in death by her parents Curtis and Amy Bell Wilson, and her Brothers Carl E. Wilson and Curtis Wilson Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory myself Aaron E. Brown Sr., her husband for almost 40 years; her daughters Amy Brown, Minister Symantha McCune, Toya Stewart, Trudy Brown, Lynn Ragulen, and Sheron Brown; her sons Aaron E. Brown II, Aaron E. M. Brown III, Duwan Addison, John Brown, James Brown, Julius Miles, Winston Brown, Shun Drayton, and Anthony Wilson; Sisters Evangelist Thelma Johnson, First Lady Charlotte Tidwell, Apostle Patricia Hardin, Evangelist Patricia Dawson, Pastor Alesia Hillsman-Terrell, and Crystal St Arnaud-Mccrae; and Brothers James C. Tidwell and O.T. Outlaw, 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

All services for Evangelist Patricia L. Brown will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Prayer Outreach Deliverance Church, 671 East 45th Avenue, Gary, Indiana 46409. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The Host Pastor is Bishop Alvin Carter, and the Officiant will be Elder Aaron Brown. Professional services are entrusted to Powell Coleman Funeral Home, with interment at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hobart, Indiana.

My beloved BFF, Patty and I met a Tolleson in the third grade when we discovered both of our names were Patricia, and we've been friends ever since. In school Patty was well liked, talented & charmingly funny.
Over the past 30 years, we've been prayer partners. Our visits whether on the phone or in person were filled with Worship, Prayer and of course the Word. We've been blessed to consistently experience God's Presence in miraculous ways. We often marveled how the Lord brought us together and had a purpose for our lives.
The picture that I am posting is when God honored Patty for her 70th birthday. I will always be remembering so many wonderful times with her
laughing, singing, preaching and praising God, and will be missing her every day.
May continued prayers strengthen the Brown Family as they celebrate her legacy of faith. Rest in Peace, my Sister, our friendship was a truly a treasure.

I was deeply saddened to learn a few hours ago that you are now at peace, and I am reflecting on the profound impact you had on my life. When I met you back in 2001 or 2002, I was touched by your kindness and compassion. You began as my instructor, but your generosity of spirit transformed our relationship into a beautiful friendship. Every time we met, you took the time to uplift me and inquire about my well-being, especially during my hospital stays. I am reminded that our time on this earth is a sacred gift, and when God calls us home, we must celebrate the legacy we leave behind. My heart overflows with love and condolences for your daughter, husband, and loved ones. May you rest in eternal peace, Ms. Pat.

I will always remember Pat at Tolleston...in classes... and being my bandmate. Fun loving but serious, too. It's good to know she had a loving family and supportive community through her journey to glory. My utmost condolences to the Brown and Wilson families.
