Edwardsville - Patricia L. Burkhart, age 95, of Edwardsville, IL passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Pat was born in Hammond, IN on August 30, 1926, the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Lauerman. She married George Burkhart on June 26, 1948, in Chicago, IL. George preceded her in death on November 17, 1998. Pat is survived by sons Bruce Burkhart of Plainfield, IL and James Burkhart of Edwardsville, IL, and daughters Barbara Jenkins and husband Paul of Edwardsville, IL and Joan Sanye and husband James of Oak Park, IL. She leaves eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pat was from a large family-five brothers and three sisters- and she remained close to them throughout her life. She loved to travel, was a master at bridge and was an excellent cook. She could turn a five dollar piece of furniture into a priceless antique. Pat always tried to help wherever she felt there was a need; she had a special soft spot in her heart for the young and the very old. She was upbeat and the ultimate optimist. Her family will miss her words of wisdom and her sense of humor; they will resonate with us forever. There will be a private service at Calvary Cemetery. Her family would like to thank everyone at Meridian Village for the excellent care she received the last three years of her life.
