Family-Placed Death Notice

CAINE, Patricia PATRICIA GRIFFIN (PAT) CAINE During the life span of Patricia, affectionately known as Pat, her knowledge, skills, smiles, laughter and sweet spirit touched the lives of many. Born in Augusta (Richmond County), Georgia on July 21, 1946 to the late Deacon Charlie Griffin and the late Mrs. Gladys Griffin. She was the youngest daughter and shared her life with two sisters and five brothers. With youthful acceptance of Christ as her personal Savior, Pat joined the Good Samaritan Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.A. Brown. She graduated with honors from Lucy C. Laney High School and Savannah State College. Pat was united in marriage to Robert Caine on December 21, 1969 and to this union two sons were born, Derek Tramaine and Keith Rayshaun. She was employed with AT&T for 25 years. She was a Personnel Investigator there for 9 years, and retired July 1996 as a Logistics and Scheduling Planner. She was treasurer of the Telephone Pioneers for 3 years and worked with Junior Achievement for 4 years. She was awarded the Shared Values Award and won a trip to Tucson, AZ and Mexico. Mrs. Caine joined Elizabeth Baptist Church in 1985 and was a very active member. She served as secretary of the J.E. Hightower Choir for 2 years and as president of the Sanctuary Choir for 8 years. She chaired the first Hand in Hand Sisterhood Project. Pat was a Deaconess, member of the Enrichment Program and a Wedding Coordinator. Pat's devotion to her family and friends was deeply grounded in her life. She was a compassionate wife, daughter, mother, sister and grandmother. Her friends were numerous for she possessed a very joyful, outgoing personality, and a keen sense of humor. She was talkative and witty. She always smiled and never met a stranger. Pat was an inspiration to so many during her illness, because she was always so cheerful and never complained. On July 13, 2008 our hearts were saddened by her departure into Heaven. We thank God for sharing the life and legacy of Pat with us, and for cherished memories that will remain with us forever. She was preceded in death by her dear brother, Alfred T. Griffin. Those left standing on the shores to see her are: a loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Robert B. Caine; sons, Derek and Keith Caine; beautiful granddaughters, Brianna and Jaiyona; sisters, Evelyn (Alvin) Melton, Carolyn (William) Boone; brothers, Charlie (Jessie) Griffin, Jr., Dennis Griffin, Carl (Yvonne) Griffin and Darryl (Lorine) Griffin; sisters-in-law, Fate L. Griffin, Nancy Griffin, Roberta Daniels and Henrietta (Joe) McQueen; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Rose) Caine and Thomas Caine; 1 aunt; 1 uncle; nieces, nephews, cousins; very dear friend of 52 years, Ruby (Pete) Singleton; very dear friend and caregiver, Regenia Walthour; many other dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Patricia Griffin Caine (Pat) will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 12 Noon at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 4245 Cascade Rd. SW. Rev. Craig L. Oliver, Pastor, officiating. Instate 10 AM. Interment, College Park Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 11:30 AM on the day of service. To Pat's family.....my prayers are with you; she left you with a vast amount of wonderful memories you all can share. I will remember Pat as being a person with compassion for others, great love for her family and, as someone who always had a very large smile and kind words. I'm sorry, but I learned about her passing only a few hours before her service. I can't be at the service in person but I will be there in spirit and love. May God continue to bless each of you.

Mr. Caine and Family,

I, too, share your sorrow in the passing of my dear classmate, Patricia. As I reflect I can see her walking the halls of Laney High getting ready for graduation in 1964. I remember how close she and Ruby Milton were. and how witty she was. I can see her face and her smile.....
I know that this time is not an easy time for her family but know that God and His love along with the love of family and friends will make this time easier to bear. I know that He will keep you in His care.

You have my deepest sympathy.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

Though some day we all have to part with those we love, they are not lost. We are always better for having loved. In this way, love transcends even death.

To Keith and the Caine Family:

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.

I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.

And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;

but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...

that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,

then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,

knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,

just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Sis Caine was the first person I met at EBC. Ever since, she and Deacon Caine treated me like I was apart of their family. If she didn't see me in church, she would make sure Deacon Caine called to make sure I was alright; he would say "Pat wanted me to call you to make sure you were okay", which meant alot to me. I will miss her tremendously. Deacon (Daddy) Caine, my prayers are that you and your family seek comfort in the midst of it all. Love-Beverly

I’ll Always Be

On earth I was God’s solider.
On earth I was a friend.
On earth I was a mother,
And a loved one;
Til the end.

Some say I was “More Than Special”
Some say I was above them all.
Some say I dealt with reason.
Some say I was their beckoning call.

But this was not my mission,
my mission was my love.
And now my mission's over.
To be with my master up above.

A peaceful, restful journey
Is now what I must take.
And praise God for his glory
for in his arms I’ll wake.

But through it all I'll remember.
The love that walked with me.
The cherishing and guidance
which led me to be free.

I'll rest now from all worries.
I'll rest now from all despair.
I'll rest where angels glory.
As God's hand leads me there.

And as you have the memories.
Of what we all have shared.
Remember that I loved you.
And thanks for being there.

For “I” will always be.

For we know that if our earthly house (body)... were dissolved , we have a building of God , an house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens ... Therefore we are always confident , knowing that whilst we are at home in the body,we are absent from the Lord :... We are confident. I say , and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord !! So rest in peace Mrs Caine affectionately known to me as Mama Caine you have entered into your eternal rest and there shall you ever be with the Lord !!!! Thanks for the babydolls you bought me when I look at them I will always think of you !!
