Patricia Isaac Obituary

Published by The Abington Mariner from Jul. 25 to Aug. 5, 2016.
Patricia A. (Dorr) Isaac, of Rockland, entered eternal life after a long illness on Friday, July 22, 2016. She was born in Boston on May 16, 1933. She attended Girls Latin School and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a degree in drawing and painting. She was the loving wife of the Rev. Donald T. Isaac for 62 years. She was the devoted mother of Cheryl Murphy (Robert) of Newton, Diana Johnson (Jay) of Duxbury, and Deborah Blair (Andrew) of Gaithersburg, Md. She was the sister of Anne Mello (Richard) of Vt., the late Roberta Scheckton (Frank) of N.Y., and the late William Dorr of Quincy. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren. Pat had a 29 year career as an art teacher and department head in the Rockland Public Schools. After she retired, she followed her dream and became a full time artist, a member of the 4th floor artists, Inc., focusing on oil pastel drawing. She was a member of many art associations and received many awards locally and nationally. See more at her website fineartbypatricia.com. Patricia's family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life in The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 5 - 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11 a.m., in The Trinity Episcopal Church, 3 Goddard Ave. in Rockland. I will always remember this kind person as Mrs. Isaac. I knew her for just a few years while in high school, as a friend of one of her daughters. She had a sharp wit, a keen sense of humor, and made the best potato salad on the planet. I will never forget the kindness and understanding that she and Don showed to me, a scruffy teenager who thought he knew it all and needed a bit of direction. I can still see her now, working in her garden, painting those paintings, the ones with the human figures with blank faces, driving that bright orange beetle. She treated me as I am sure she treated all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her, with empathy and goodness, a sincere smile and a knowing eye. My sincere condolences to all in the Isaac family.

I so enjoyed talking with your mom during my ancestry search and was glad she could connect me to Debbie. I saw and appreciated her art work on line, but I am sure her best tribute is all these posts of students who remember her so fondly.

Pat got me started on my journey as an artist. If it weren't for Pat I might never have tried painting with oil pastels. One of my favorite paintings, and one of my earliest efforts, is of a patch of pumpkins, done with oil pastels. May she paint her florals forever. X <= :D

I shall miss her kind "cheerleading" whenever she saw a painting of mine on the internet. I shall also miss seeing her work of which I was a big fan.

Sincerest sympathies to the entire family. Her artwork graces several walls in Debbie and Andy's home and how she captured so things beautifully from geraniums, birds, people. May her life well lived and memories in your heart lift your spirits in the coming days.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. Pat was a wonderful person and a talented artist. She gave so much to the art industry, through her paintings and teachings and most notably to oil pastels as a medium. She was a founding member of the Oil Pastel Society and on Wetcanvas the Oil Pastel Forum (an online international artist community), where through her guidance, teachings and dedication for many years helped countless individuals to develop as artists around the world. A post has been started on the Wetcanvas forum in memory of Pat http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1409513. She was an inspirational force helping me to grow as an artist, I will always be grateful for her guidance and friendship. Pat will be missed by many.

Losing a loved one can bring much grief. Please accept my sincere condolences. I love the words spoken in the scripture at 1Thessalonians 4:14 written by Paul when he was in Corinth "For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus". What a wonderful promise. To know that you can see your loved one again!

I have the BEST memories of Mrs. Isaac! I had all through elementary school at Eston, from 1970-1976. She was such a great teacher! I don't remember her having issues with any kids. She was so much fun, so positive and so enthusiastic! I am so sorry to hear of her passing but knowing she is in a place of love and peace should give us all comfort! To her family, please know there are so many of her students that are all grown up, and still live and admire her! Take comfort in the love we are all sending to you now! God bless you all, as I know he has already blessed Mrs. Isaac!!!
