Patricia Ludington Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2024.
Patricia Rose Rubano Ludington, 82, of North Haven, passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice on Saturday, February 10 after courageously recovering from the effects of a stroke.

Born on May 26, 1941, in New Haven, Patty was the daughter of the late Anthony C. Rubano, Sr. and Alice Proto Rubano. Prior to moving to North Haven in 2003, she spent most of her life in the Fair Haven section of New Haven, raising her family in the same house in which she was raised.

In March 1958, at the age of 16, she went on a blind date with Paul Ludington, a Navy man and 18-year-old nephew of one of her mother's co-workers. She married the love of her life on June 25, 1960, and they stayed by each other's side for the next 64 years. Their union produced four children, Paul, John, Joseph, and Debra.

Patty worked briefly for Connecticut Laminating and Ann Taylor but devoted most of her life to taking care of her family. Some of her children's fondest memories were watching the Saturday morning ritual of her getting the Sunday sauce slow cooking and housecleaning while dancing and singing along to her favorite 8 track cassettes of Barry Manilow and 1950's songs. A phenomenal baker, she loved making Italian cookies and her family recipe produced the most delicious, moist anginette cookies you ever tasted!

She was a direct woman that was not afraid to tell you exactly how she felt on any subject. Consequently, she instilled in her children and grandchildren many life lessons that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Patty was predeceased by her brother Anthony (Butch) Rubano Jr., sister Antoinette LeClaire, and son Joseph (Joe the baby) Ludington. She is survived by her loving husband Paul; sons Paul (Maryann) Ludington and John Ludington, and daughter Debra (Dave) Ferrigno. Her legacy will live on in her grandchildren, Morgan Jasmin, Jesse Ludington, Kara Ludington, Sydney Ferrigno, Sofia Ludington, Paulie Ludington, Jamie (Erik) Nastri, and great-grandchildren Peter and Violet Nastri. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Joanne Wade, Dorothy (Victor) Tralongo, Patti Ann (Mark) Dering, Cindy (Robert) Marinoff, Regina (Jack) Aiello, many nieces and nephews, and her closest friend and sister-in-law Beverly Rubano.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank The Connecticut Hospice in Branford for making her transition to the next chapter as comfortable as possible. If you wish to remember Patty, contributions can be made to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

To the Ludington family. Henry and I are so sorry for your loss. We so enjoyed talking with your Mom and Dad. Your Mom was so sweet and funny especially at the girls birthday parties. We always had a lot of fun with them. We know this is a hard time for all of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My heartfelt sympathy to the whole family. Though it had been years since I saw Patty, I remember her as a fun, loving woman. I especially remember her every June 25th! My mom often reminded me that she was not able to attend Paulie´s wedding to Patty because she (my mom) was 9 months pregnant with me! I was born the next morning! Rest in Peace dear Patty.
