Patricia Lyn Collins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2025.
Patricia Lyn "Patty" (McKaig) Collins, 76, of Morgantown, IN passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

She was born on July 22, 1949, in Logansport, IN, to Edward Elliot McKaig and Elizabeth Jane "Betty" (Martin) McKaig.

She was a graduate of Pioneer High School and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Purdue University. After college, Patty served as a VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) volunteer in Cleveland, OH. She went on to teach at Twin Lakes Middle School in Monticello, IN, before being called to the mission field, where she taught for a year in Madrid, Spain, with One Mission Society (OMS).

Patty is survived by her husband Ronald J. "Ron" Collins whom she married on August 20, 1988, in Logansport, IN.

In the 1990's, Patty continued her involvement with OMS and served a six-year assignment with OMS CoMission. This gave opportunity to utilize her spiritual gifts in organization, business, education, and missions as both Patty and Ron made 36 trips in and out of Russia, providing logistical oversight for OMS missionaries teaching biblical morals and ethics in Russian school systems.

Her next assignments included several initiatives. She served as an inaugural member of the Board of Directors of the Boaz Project in Greenwood, IN, providing services to Russian orphans. She also became a biblical counselor with Rod and Staff Ministries, where she and Ron mentored, guided, and counseled struggling individuals and couples. Patty and Ron also built upon their previous Russian ministry by providing translated versions of the Community Church of Greenwood's Discipleship Training across various locations in Russia. She still found time to serve CCG as a volunteer event planner/coordinator, where she planned and coordinated numerous weddings and other events. She was also the lead event planner and coordinator for the centennial celebration of OMS in 2001.

In 2003, she began serving as a full-time missionary for OMS in Greenwood, IN, where she served as an event planner, a team member in development, and in various other support roles for the organization, where she continued to serve until the day of her passing.

Survivors include her husband Ronald J. "Ron" Collins of Morgantown, IN, her children Randal Collins of Honolulu, HI and Jacinda Beecher (Matt) of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Reilly Collins of Southport, IN, Kaylee Collins of Chicago, IL, Ava Beecher of Greenwood, IN and Sam Beecher of Greenwood, IN, her sister Maureen Cook (Ron) of Peru, IN, brothers Ed McKaig (Jan) of Logansport, IN, Roger McKaig (Linda) of Logansport, IN and Bob McKaig (Sandra) of Logansport, IN, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
