MICKEY
PATRICIA A. (WALANCUS)
When describing Patricia A. Mickey, people who knew and loved her had many choices: Daughter. Mother. Grandmother. Sister. Friend. Wife. A lover of laughter, Frank Sinatra, and crab legs to those who knew her really well. She was the lady from Gibsonia who got her nails and hair done on Fridays and could always make her best friend, Ray, chuckle with a sarcastic joke. She was Aunt Patty to her nieces and nephews. She was Pat to her colleagues at the real estate agency where she worked for the past 15 years. For those who didn't know her quite as well, she was the kind-hearted woman who took the time to send nice cards in the mail when a neighbor or church member needed to know they were appreciated. She was the lady who loved the casino, looked forward to vacations, and listened through a good long talk before offering advice. Patty peacefully passed away in hospice care in Wexford at Good Samaritan on Monday night February 27, 2017. She was 72. Born November 28, 1944, she was the beloved mother of Leticia Harshman (Michael) who will never forget the sound of her mom humming in the grocery store and the smell of her perfume. She was the doting grandmother of Elijah and Grace who will miss Ma's weekly visits, her pool, and the mints she always kept tucked away in her pockets. She was the big sis who took Terri Mostoller (Paul) and Mari Ratay (Dan) of Gibsonia to the beach and let the girls watch her get ready for dates. She was the caring wife of retired Navy Chief Charles Mickey, with whom she traveled the world and changed her hair color as much as she changed the radio station over the course of 41 years. She was preceded by the death of her mother and father, Mary and Gus Walancus, and also her older brother, Johnny Walancus, whom she missed madly and looked forward to seeing again. Patty's legacy of kindness, grace, and always attentive spirit will endure in the lives of everyone she knew. Memorial contributions may be made in Patty's memory to her home church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonia, 3832 Gibsonia Road, 724-443-8110, where a memorial service will be held Friday, March 3, 2017, 4:00-6:00 p.m. Arrangements by BALL FUNERAL CHAPEL.

I worked with Patty at Roessing Bronze and invited her to go on vacation with me to Norfolk, VA. The start of her many travels. We both had Ford Convertibles and I think I helped her learn to drive hers. We both moved to Norfolk after a couple visits here. We drifted apart while raising our children but I have many good memories of those days.

My deepest sympathy to her family.

We were friends when you lived on Lockhart St., many, many years ago and when you moved, we were both heartbroken. I have thought of you many times and wondered how you were.
It is with deep and sincere sympathy that I read of your passing. God Bless You. DML
