Patricia Jean Tierney (September 7, 1941—February 18, 2023)
Patti devoted her life to loving and serving her family and her friends. She now joins her beloved husband and best friend, Chris, in heaven. Both of them loved God, their faith, and their children.
Her passing this week leaves us without our mom, grandmother, sister, and friend who we’ve cherished for the way she lived her life and enriched ours.
From her early years in her hometown of St. Louis to her nearly 50 years in Houston, Patti committed herself to others—as a grade school teacher, as a mentor to many fighting addiction, and as a wife and mother of four boys and seven grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Chris Tierney (Angie), Matt Tierney (Tricia), Pat Tierney (Cindy), and Tom Tierney (Sinead). She took great pride in and dearly loved her grandchildren, Grace, Ella, Chloe, Jack, Will, Declan, and Sean. She provided constant joy and affection to her siblings, Terri Gast (Doug) John Culliton (Cindy), and to Chris’ brothers, Tom (Georgine), John (Nancy) and Pat (Sharon), and to all of her niece and nephews who adored “Aunt Patti.”
Patti is preceded in death by her husband, Chris, her parents, George and Marge Culliton, and her brother George.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at Klein Funeral Home (16131 Champion Forest Dr. Spring, TX, 77379). A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 24, at 2:00 pm at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church (18511 Klein Church Rd., Spring, TX, 77379).
In lieu of flowers, please offer donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the charity of your choice.

My deepest sympathies to Patty’s family.
Patti was the first person to reach out to me when we moved here. She always introduced me as “her personal nurse.” I don’t think i ever got together with her that she didn’t mention her boys and her grandchildren and how proud she was of them.
She always called my husband “Jack” even though his name was Herb. I said “Herb why does that woman call you Jack? Doesn’t she know your name is Herb?” He said Patti and him were chatting one night and Patti told Herb “you don’t know Jack!” so she always affectionately called him Jack.
When my husband was killed on his motorcycle Patti helped me through that. When I heard Patti died I imagined Herb met her at the pearly gates of heaven with a big hug and Patti said “Hey Jack!” Will miss your silliness and your friendship Pattilove and miss you!
Your personal nurse, Janelle

Patti was beautiful and terrific in every way. She moved from St. Louis long ago but I'd seen her several times in the last decade, including a stop-over on a trip to Houston about seven years ago. We had fun telling stories about our Irish grandparents (her grandfather was my grandmother's younger brother.) God bless everyone in the Tierney/Culliton/Hambrough family.

I was so sorry to hear of Patti's passing. I worked with her at Haude for many years. You could always count on Patti to lighten things up with her sense of humor. She was a compassionate teacher and a wonderful friend. She will be sorely missed. I am sorry I can't be there to say goodbye in person. Reset in peace Patti.

My sincere condolences to Patti's family. Patti was my friend and one of the most loved people I have ever known. She and I bonded many years ago when she first came to our community. She had a special gift for listening, keeping things light hearted and fun, and being authentic. She and I giggled about many silly things over the years. I miss my friend already. But I am comforted that she passed so peacefully and is now in heaven with her husband; she always spoke so highly of him. What a great life she lived! May God bless her soul and all of us whom she left behind.
