Patricia Turnbull Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2024.
Patricia Caroline Turnbull passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning hours of May 9, 2024. The youngest of eight children born in Pittsburgh, PA to a rail straightener at a steel mill and a loving stay-at-home mother, Pat was raised with a blue collar work ethic that never left her. After earning her bachelors degree in education at Pitt University and a masters at Penn State University, she worked as an educator for over 40 years. Always a traveler, Pat visited almost every state in the US as well as nearly every country in Europe. In her retirement years, she enjoyed visiting China, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and more, but her world truly revolved around her family. She was the most selfless, giving mother to her only child, and still somehow even more so to her grandchildren, whom she often took care of. Seeing their happiness was her greatest joy.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Michael Urbanic; her sisters, Anna Mae Leksich, Helen Moffit, Mary Lou Weaver, Eleanor Turner, Evelyn Yanchenko; and brothers, John Michael Urbanic and Robert Michael Urbanic. She is survived by her son, David Russell Turnbull, IV, and daughter-in-law, Courtney Turnbull; as well as her three beloved grandchildren, David Russell Turnbull, V, Parker May Turnbull, and Ford Michael Turnbull.

Did Patricia teach at Accotink Academy in Springfield, Virginia in 1975? I think she was my beloved first grade teacher! Sending my belated condolences to the family.
