Patricia Wadsworth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2025.
Patricia Wadsworth met her Heavenly Father on July 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends near and far. She was a kind, thoughtful, and quietly strong woman who made everyone feel like family.

Born in Prattville, AL, Patricia spent her career in the medical industry, working in both Tucson and Birmingham as a dedicated medical insurance processor. Her work reflected her character: steady, reliable, and focused on helping others. She lived in seven states and briefly in Germany. She loved to travel and found joy in camping, music, and old movies. A late adopter of technology, she mastered texting with her grandchildren and grew fond of her Apple phone and watch to help her stay connected and helping us monitor her health.

She was a shining light, in her quiet way, an inspiration and example of generosity, forgiveness, and a deep desire to nurture relationships. She was endlessly thoughtful, always wishing good for others, and she deeply appreciated her wonderful neighbors, friends and her various medical care teams.

In her later years, Patricia returned to Tucson to be closer to her son Earl and his family. These final chapters were filled with deep connection, laughter, and love. She bravely lived with kidney disease, never allowing it to define her. She faced each day with grace, gratitude, and grit.

Pat had a gentle sparkle. She loved lemon water with ice, fresh strawberries, turquoise jewelry, yellow roses, ocean breezes, desert skies, and camping under the stars. She delighted in nature, treasured photographs and memories, and found immense joy in the company of loved ones. She enjoyed sending cards to family and friends, doing puzzles, and was always ready for a game of rummy.

Patricia is survived by her beloved son Earl Wadsworth and cherished daughter-in-law Phoebe Chalk-Wadsworth; her beloved grandchildren, Chad Wadsworth and Megan Wadsworth; and her great-grandson, River Michael. She is also remembered fondly by former daughter-in-law Nicole Myer.

She leaves behind her siblings and their children:

- Eloise "Hobbie" Veret (children: Jimmy Higginbotham, Dennis Higginbotham, Theresa Higginbotham Moyers, Pam Anderson, and David Higginbotham)

- Bill Blankenship (daughter: Kimberly Phillips)

- Flora Gathof (daughters: Jennifer Mosley, Laura Boaz, Heather Benefield)

- Sue Johnson (children: Jeremy Johnson (deceased), Jason Johnson, and Tammy Johnson)

- Kathy Riddle (daughters: Kelly Jenkins and Katie Riddle)

She is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members who adored her.

True to her generous and selfless spirit, Patricia chose to donate her body to science through the Willed Body Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson. Her final act was one of giving-helping others learn and heal.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Patricia's memory to the University of Arizona College of Medicine Nephrology Department for Kidney Research: https://give.uafoundation.org/page.aspx?pid=948&id=8d276cbb-698f-4c01-b1ca-87ac03c1522c.

Though there will be no formal service, Patricia's life is being celebrated every day by those who knew and loved her. Her legacy is one of kindness, quiet strength, deep love, and an open heart.

The hugs and smiles she sent via Facebook will be missed. She clearly loved family and made the effort to stay connected. I am very sorry for this loss.
