Patricia West Obituary
Patricia Ann West, age 78, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2025. Born on September 8, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Richard and Helen Schriever.
On August 10, 1968, Patricia married the love of her life, Gordon Porter West. Together they built a beautiful life grounded in love, faith, and family. Patricia earned her bachelor's degree from Ball State University in 1968, and shortly after, she moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She poured her heart into nurturing young minds until 1973, when she embraced her greatest calling-raising her two children.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Patricia lived her life as a reflection of Christ's love. She joyfully served her church community, especially through the children's ministry, sharing her gifts with warmth and generosity. In 1986, her faith deepened during her Emmaus Walk, which led to years of service on various teams and helped to bring the Chrysalis youth program to the community-a testament to her commitment to growing the next generation in faith.
Patricia found joy in life's simple pleasures: crafting beautiful creations, exploring new places with Gordon, indulging her sweet tooth, and loving her family with a fierce and tender heart. Even after her diagnosis with Mild Cognitive Impairment in 2021, which progressed to early-stage dementia, her spirit remained full of grace, kindness, and joy.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Gordon Porter West; her cherished children and their spouses, Catherine (Paxton) Ellis and Perry (Sandy) West; and her treasured grandchildren, Aiden, Conner, Bennett, and Delayni. Patricia's legacy of love, faith, and compassion lives on in each of them.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Stuart, located at 1500 S Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994. A light reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Stuart (https://www.stuartfumc.org) or Southeast Florida Emmaus/Chrysalis (https://www.seflemmaus.org), two ministries close to Patricia's heart.
