ZUK, Patricia Margaret (née Jones)
December 27, 1933 – May 24, 2018
It is with great sorrow that the family of Patricia Margaret Zuk announces her passing. The beloved, youngest child of Florence Eliza Jones (d.1986) and Henry Joseph Jones (d.1979), she was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur (MIA, 1945) and Sidney (1991), and by her grandson John (2002). Also predeceased by her husband's siblings, Bill, Lil, Kay and Ernie, and his parents, John and Magdalena. She is survived by her elder sister Edna Fannon, sister-in-law Anne Zukiwski, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Grieving her loss are Patricia's children and their partners, Rhoda (Chris), Joan (Brant), Laura (Randy), Connie (Terry), and Barry (Lori). Also missing her are her loving grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Dan (Katya), Grier (Jonas), Fiona (Brett) and Magdalena. Sadly, she also leaves behind the love of her life, Nick, her husband of 65 years. We extend thanks to her trusted neighbours, Mary and Michael Chibuk, and Bob Gilmour, as well as many dear friends, including Anne Jwaszko, Elsie Zuke, Ella and Ian Wesenberg, Lucy Lucic, Ollie and Danny Niawchuk, and Evelyn Black. We know she appreciated the bonds shared with her colleagues at Canada Post. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and care Patricia received from Dexter, Alan, Anouk, Dr. Craig, Dr. Fisher, and Dr. Agosto at the University of Alberta, unit 5D2, as well as Lisa, Ali, Ande, Evelyn, Florrie, Brenda, Chaplain Art and Dr. Chana at the Mel Miller Palliative Care Unit.
Our mother challenged us daily with her brilliant intellect, her open-mindedness, and her incisive wit and insights. We will miss her terribly.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service and reception to be held at First Memorial – Harmony Chapel, 10541 – 81 Avenue, Edmonton on Wednesday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society or the University of Alberta Palliative Care Unit are welcome.
