Patrick was born May 22, 1967, in Hartsville to the parents of Warner and Martha DeHart of Hartsville. Patrick was a 1985 graduate of Hartsville High School, attended Coker College, North Carolina School of the Arts in costume design, and graduated from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Musical Theatre, University of Cincinnati. In the past, he worked for Spoleto in Charleston as a production assistant, worked one season with North Carolina Shakespeare Festival as a wardrobe master, Alabama theater, as a wardrobe master and Disney World as a costume designer. He entertained many audiences in the Northeast, New York, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Columbia and Florida with his talent as a singer, musical theatre actor, production person and a costume designer. His costume design abilities were displayed at the 2007 S.C. State Fair and at the Black Creek Arts Center, Hartsville, in 2008. He had credits in several feature films as an actor and produced charity events for major charities. He had been honored for his creative abilities in costume design and musical theater abilities in the Southeast. His acting, musical and design abilities were last enjoyed by the audience in Godspell for the Hartsville Community Players in September.
He was a loving son who is survived by his parents; a brother, Mike DeHart of Columbia; a sister, Shawn DeHart Fletcher of Hope Mills, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to The Community Players Memorial fund in honor of Patrick DeHart, c/o Carolina Bank P.O. Box 819 Hartsville, SC 29550.
