Patrick Bruce Kelly

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Bruce Kelly. Pat was diagnosed with lung cancer on March 12, he died one month later at Vancouver General Hospital, on April 13 at 66 years old.

Pat was born and raised in West Vancouver, where he attended Sentinel High School, and then UBC. He moved to Whistler in 1980 where he worked at the Whistler Real Estate Company, and eventually became the full owner for over 20 years. He was a businessman, supporting and starting many businesses throughout the years. He loved to learn, was always taking courses, reading nonfiction, and went back to school to get a Masters in Applied Science and become a Notary Public. He cared deeply about his community, and believed that being involved and bettering the collective experience was an important part of finding purpose and happiness. He sat on many committees and boards, coached elementary school basketball, and supported the arts. A leader and mentor to many, he was well liked, well respected, and very sought after for help and advice. A founding member at Big Sky, he loved to golf, he loved music, he loved to read, and he loved his girls.

Whistler, Pemberton, and the Sea to Sky Corridor have benefited immensely from his contributions over the decades, but his family benefited most of all. He will be missed so much.

He is survived by his wife Julie Kelly (nee Mantoani), daughters Shannon (Jason) and Heather Kelly, father Emerson Boyd Kelly (Camille), brother Michael Kelly (Brenda), sister Barbara Kelly, and step siblings Tony (Laura), Tara (Mike), Danielle (Dan). He is predeceased by his mother Patricia Lou Kelly (nee Whiteside).

A celebration of life will be held at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler June 21@ 2:00 pm. A donation avenue will be announced at the Celebration of Life.
