As I read the remembrances from others, I had forgotten that Mike served in other communities. Like so many, I always considered that he was "our doctor." In addition to being caring and sensitive to his patients' needs, he had a wonderful sense of humour that helped us during stressful times.
For a short time I curled with Mike and during my retirement party, he entertained everyone by recounting a funny story about one of our games. I have kept that anecdote and read it from time to time. It never fails to make me laugh.
My condolences to his family and friends. I will never forget you Mike.

The day before I heard of Mike's sudden death, somehow, during a string of random thoughts, this picture appeared in my mind: I rememberd how he used to lightly pat your shoulder when seeing you off after the appointment, often accompanied by a humorous remark. I could almost feel it, the caring warmth of his gesture. The picture stuck with me for a while and made me smile... So long, Mike, and thank you!

In the very short time that our paths crossed in Hudson's Hope , Mike saved my life. How do you thank someone for a selfless act of that magnitude? Then he was a fast friend too, asking who my former employer was . " then did you know my brother "? Naturally I had worked for him ...... small world . I thank God for his vigilant care, and friendship and will miss him.

Doc, you are the only doctor I've ever had who was also a friend. Everyone thinks they had a special relationship with you that others didn't. And that's what was so great about you...everyone did. I wish we could have arranged that curling game in Februrary, but at least I got to hear your voice one last time. Just like thousands of others...I will not forget you.

When a personal friend of mine (Debbie T.) called to inform me of Mike's death my heart was overwhelmed with grief & sadness for his family, friends, co-workers and the many people he touched during his short lifespan.

I echo with the other entries: about his genuine caring personality, his loving ways...his sweet, shy smile...he had a deep connection with many.
And of course you couldn't ask for a better family physician.

His passing shook me to the core and reinforced the brevity of life.
Mike will be greatly missed and my prayers are with his family & children.

Until we see each other again in eternity... Au revoir and God bless. From an old friend & former patient in Prince Rupert, BC.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mike since the early '70s and attribute the fact that I am still here to his amazing care. May the family find comfort in the fact that so very many people thought the world of him.
