Patrick Mercurio Obituary

Patrick J. Mercurio, 92, of McKeesport, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at Riverside Care Center. Born Nov. 30, 1923, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Costantino and Giovanini (Masceri) Mercurio and the husband of Mildred (Keresman) Mercurio for more than 60 years. Patrick worked at Cox's Department Store, where he was a buyer in the men's clothing department for more than 25 years and later retired from Macy's, as a salesman. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. Patrick was the oldest living member of the McKeesport Lion's Club, where he was past president and recipient of the Melvin Jones award. Additionally, he was a member of St. Patrick Parish. In addition to his wife, Patrick is survived by children, Donna Varner, of Annapolis, Md., and David Mercurio, of Fort Worth, Texas; and also many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Nicholas, Michael and Josephine.
Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at WILLIG FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. in St. Patrick Church with Father Vincent Velas as celebrant. Committal service with military honors will follow in New St. Joseph's Cemetery.
