OMLOR (Patrick Henry) :

I am reminded of part of the text of a speech delivered by Patrick to the Latin Mass Society on Sunday October 21st 1973:
No more comfort save that the sky grows darker yet? Are we actually to find comfort in witnessing the situation growing bleaker? Yes! It is because from the standpoint of eternity bad news is often good news. It forces us down upon our knees, it reminds us that we have not here a lasting city, and that our dependence upon Almighty God must be total, we may rejoice to the fact that very likely there are even far worse things in store for us beyond the horizon.
In all this strife and confusion. In all our efforts and our frustrations, we must at all costs avoid bitterness. When events don't shape up to our liking, when we seem to be getting nowhere, when all appears futile and hopeless, let us recall these lines:

No more of comfort shall ye get,
Save that the sky grows darker yet,
And the sea rises higher

Goodbye dear friend, we will miss you, please intercede for us all.

Though we are far removed in time and place that there was no chance of meeting you, your books and papers have been a great blessing in these times. The friendship I share with your daughter Theresa and your grandson Matthew, is truly cherished and a testament to how great a father you were.

Please pray for the repose of his soul.

Prayer of Saint Athanasius
from Glories of Mary ~ Saint Alphonsus

Give ear to our prayers, O most Holy Virgin, and be mindful of us. Dispense unto us the gifts of thy riches, and the abundance of the graces with which thou art filled. The archangel saluted thee, and called thee full of grace. All nations call thee blessed. The whole hierarchy of heaven blesses thee: and we, who are of the terrestrial hierarchy, also address thee, saying : Hail, O full of grace, our Lord is with thee; pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, our Lady and our Queen.

Saint Athanasius, pray for us
Saint Patrick, pray for us

In memory of our dear Dad, on Saint Patrick's Day.

Saint Patrick, pray for him and for us!

The beautiful prayer of St. Patrick, popularly known as "St. Patrick's Breast-Plate", is supposed to have been composed by him in preparation for this victory over Paganism. The following is a literal translation from the old Irish text:

I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of the
Invocation of the Trinity:
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.

I bind to myself today
The virtue of the Incarnation of
Christ with His Baptism,
The virtue of His crucifixion with His burial,
The virtue of His Resurrection with His Ascension,
The virtue of His coming on the Judgement Day.

I bind to myself today
The virtue of the love of seraphim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the hope of resurrection unto reward,
In prayers of Patriarchs,
In predictions of Prophets,
In preaching of Apostles,
In faith of Confessors,
In purity of holy Virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I bind to myself today
The power of Heaven,
The light of the sun,
The brightness of the moon,
The splendour of fire,
The flashing of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of sea,
The stability of earth,
The compactness of rocks.

I bind to myself today
God's Power to guide me,
God's Might to uphold me,
God's Wisdom to teach me,
God's Eye to watch over me,
God's Ear to hear me,
God's Word to give me speech,
God's Hand to guide me,
God's Way to lie before me,
God's Shield to shelter me,
God's Host to secure me,
Against the snares of demons,
Against the seductions of vices,
Against the lusts of nature,
Against everyone who meditates injury to me,
Whether far or near,
Whether few or with many.

I invoke today all these virtues
Against every hostile merciless power
Which may assail my body and my soul,
Against the incantations of false prophets,
Against the black laws of heathenism,
Against the false laws of heresy,
Against the deceits of idolatry,
Against the spells of women, and smiths, and druids,
Against every knowledge that binds the soul of man.

Christ, protect me today
Against every poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against death-wound,
That I may receive abundant reward.

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort,
Christ in the chariot seat,
Christ in the poop [deck],
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.

To thee have I lifted up my soul: in thee, O my God, I put my trust, let me not be ashamed: neither let my enemies laugh at me: for none of them that wait on thee shall be confounded.

Ps: Show, O Lord, thy ways to me, and teach me thy paths.

Dear Mrs. Omlor,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family at the passing of your husband. I read "Questioning The Validity...", in manuscript form obtained from Fr. Lawrence Brey. It made perfect sense! What logic! What clarity! It had an enormous effect on my life. Thanks to your husband.
In my Missal, there are two long lists of names to be commemorated at Mass - one of the living; the other, of the deceased. Many years ago, I added Pat Omlor and Family to the List of The Living, and have now moved your husbands name to the List of the Deceased. That is to say, at every Mass I attend, I will continue to pray for you and your family (the living) and for the speedy repose of the soul of Patrick Henry Omlor!

Dear Mrs. Omlor and Family,

Mr. Patrick Henry Omlor will forever remain a tremendous champion of the Catholic Faith!

On behalf of Lori and Nevie, I express our deepest condolences to Mr. Omlor's widow, and children, as well as their families on the death of one of the greatest champions of the Catholic Faith of our times.

Mr. Omlor's work helped many souls during his lifetime, including mine. And they continue to edify my family - with his well-worn books serving as ready reference on our bookshelf. His brilliant writings helped me to see the true state of the Church Militant in this time of apostasy and betrayal. What a tremendous legacy he has left for all of us.

More importantly, he raised and influenced a model Catholic family, some of whom (Daughter Cecilia, Son Patrick, Grandson Paddy, and Daughter-in-Law Anne Marie) we have been privileged to meet . . Anne Marie was kind enough to be Nevie's Confirmation Sponsor.

Be assured of our continual prayers (and Masses being offered) for the repose of the soul of this good, courageous Catholic gentleman and for the consolation of his family in this time of grief.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all of the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Mrs Omlor and family,

My condolences on the passing of Patrick, a man I now pray to meet in Heaven. He has done an immense help for his fellow Catholics that is not going to be forgotten. Knowing Margaret and Patrick well and aquainted with four of your other children, it is clear that he was a most excellent and cherished Catholic father and a well beloved husband.
Know that I will remember him in my prayers as well as your family and that now I will pray to him as well. By God's grace and mercy, for the service he did for Holy Mother Church, I pray that he has been given a high place in Heaven.
Eternal Rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

Dame History shall record, one day very soon in the vast scheme of time, and for all generations to come, that Patrick Henry Omlor was as great and important an apologist for the integral Catholic faith in our day, as St. Justin was in the second century. How much do we owe this sublime thinker of the Church whose radiant soul had also honored my native New Mexico by its presence which Our Lady, La Conquistadora had been so pleased to receive among us? To Henry Patrick Omlor we owe our confidence in the mind's ability to discern the highest and most necessary truths. To this large and generous man, the larger for his humility, the more generous for the the beautiful family he has left us, we owe the joy of our faith, the joy that delights always in truth; for, if the name of Patrick Henry Omlor refers the mind to anything, it is to Truth, the Highest Truth to whom his life was intimately entwined, like a gracious vine thriving in its winding ascent towward the summit of a great oak. Many are the souls he has turned from the darkness of doubt to bask in the golden sun of true faith, many the souls who utter his name in the deepest chambers of their hearts, with as many prayers of gratitude as petition for his eternal rest in the Sacred Heart of the Master he followed with such love. And Love is always the last word for men like Patrick Henry Omlor, for they are true lovers who love truth above all. Let us thank Our Lord for proposing this friend of all men everywhere, for the imitation of all men everywhere--he whose love of truth revealed the truth of his love. Soul of Henry Patrick Omlor, fly straight to heaven!

Those of us who have been given the grace to keep the true Catholic faith in these days are much indebted to the zeal of Patrick Henry Omlor. A very good soul has entered eternity. He fought the good fight and did so when many others had yet to see it. The way he, as a layman, was able to see the errors of the Novus Ordo and write against them so early on is a testimony to his zeal for learning the Faith and a perfect example of the gifts of Understanding and Fortitude operating in his soul. May he rest in peace.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Patrick Omlor, for the sake of his family, who I am sure will miss him greatly. What a gift and a legacy he has left you all, truly a father to be so proud of, to be emulated and revered. At the time of Christ when they talked about the deceased they would say after his name "God bless him, best of men". I think every man should want this to be said of themselves after death, and TRULY Patrick Omlor is one of these men "Patrick Omlor God bless him, best of men". As he was at the forefront, leading the way for so many out of the darkness of VII, like the few others that I have known who had this incredible insight, when all around them was falling to pieces, there was a reason they had this insight it was because of their fidelity to God. Just as St. Joseph, who had perfect fidelity, so should Mr. Omlor be an example to us. And just as St. Theresa, death is not the end but the beginning, the deceased help us more from the other side then they do here. Most certainly I will have a Mass said for him and for his family, and not only will I pray for him, but to him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, may God continue to bless you all with a strong and devout faith and fidelity to God, just as your father and grandfather. "God Bless Patrick Omlor, best of men" May he rest in peace.

Thank you so much Mr. Patrick Henry Omlor for becoming an instrument of God in defending the true Faith when so little had the courage to do it and so few had the grace to see the errors. Because of this, you have changed so many lives including ours, our children's and our children's children. I know for sure that God will show you all the souls that you have led to Him.

Rest in Peace and may God and our Lady also give peace to the family you have left behind.

Although I did not personally know him, I am grateful to Mr. Omlor for his contributions to holy Mother Church for zealously defending Her sacred Traditions against the Modernist heretics of our day. I am also pleased to have made the acquaintance of two of his daughters, Margaret and Theresa whose love for our Catholic Faith, I realize, is a sure reflection of the love their father taught them by his fine example.

May Mr. Omlor speedily advance to Heaven and may almighty God have mercy on his immortal soul.

May God bless you Mrs. Omlor and to all of his children, may your father's soul, by the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to Mary and the Omlor family. Maria and I are an example of the legacy of Pat and his work in defending the faith. Divine providence allowed us to meet Damian and Theresa and become good friends. Its through this friendship that God worked His grace to bring about our conversion to Catholicism. We will be eternally grateful to this man and his God given gifts in apologetics and faith. May he rest in peace +RIP+

Only in eternity will any of us fully realize the impact Patrick Henry Omlor had on Holy Mother Church. He was to all of us that truly knew him, a father, a friend and a guide, teaching us to stand strong and firm in our Catholic Faith, ever faithful to all of Her teachings and especially to Her Sacrifice, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Patrick was the beacon of light that led close to 50 years of Catholics to understand what had to be done, to protect and defend the Faith we so dearly love. We have lost a dear father, friend and teacher, but our loss was heaven's gain. May he rest in peace!

This is a man of strong interest for the Church and her needs at this time. He was a tremendous help to me and my family since the late 60's. We will not know in this lifetime how much his works have influenced Catholics who were confused by the errors of our times. I have lost a good friend and will remember him always at Holy Mass.

"Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them." - Matthew 7:20 - We never met Mr Omlor, but we felt we knew him through his beautiful children and grandchildren. The world is clearly poorer for his passing. Requiescat in pacem Patrick Omlor.

Patrick Henry Omlor's writings were very important to me in relation to the fake "Mass" of the late 1960s. He was very quick off the mark - quicker than any cleric I know of. I am confident that, after having been taken by Our Lord on the feast of St Athanasius, this Athanasius of our times is now in Heaven.
