Patrick Somerville Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick "Pat" Jon Somerville, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who left us on April 13, 2025, at the age of 76.

Pat was born on June 15, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Eugene and Elizabeth Somerville and his journey was marked by academic excellence. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, Texas, and went on to attend Southern Methodist University, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. His passion for medicine led him to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he earned his medical degree in 1974. Pat completed his Urology residency in 1980 and joined the Collom and Carney Clinic in Texarkana, Texas. He was proud to have dedicated 47 years of his life to serving the community through his Urology practice before retiring in 2019.

On June 19, 1971, Pat married the love of his life, Marsha Lynn Redding, in a beautiful ceremony at Walnut Hill Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. As devoted members of both First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Williams Memorial United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Texas, he and Marsha forged lifelong friendships.

Pat's life was enriched by his favorite activities, which included spending time at his lake house in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with his family and "fun seekers." He enjoyed visits with his children in Colorado and Georgia, and was always a favorite amongst their friends. Pat's love for the Rolling Stones was well-known as he traveled to see them in both Atlanta and Chicago. Pat loved pets as family. However, his most cherished memories were those made with his only grandchild, Liam, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Pat was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marsha; his parents, Eugene and Elizabeth; and his brother, David. He is survived by his children, Shannon Somerville of Atlanta, Georgia, and Collin Somerville, his wife, Amy, and their son, Liam of Arvada, Colorado, as well as a host of relatives and special friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Northridge Country Club in Texarkana, Texas, on Saturday, May 17th, from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Susan G. Komen, Texarkana Affiliate, 4530 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, TX 75503 or the charity of your choice in memory of Patrick Somerville.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Susan Kelley and the staff at Cornerstone Retirement Community for their exceptional care and friendship during Pat's final days. His spirit will live on through the memories and love he leaves behind.
