Patrick Spilotro Obituary

Published by Chicago Tribune on May 1, 2022.
Dr. Patrick Anthony Spilotro Sr., 85, passed away April 25, 2022. Patrick was born Feb. 19, 1937 in Chicago, Ill to Pasquale and Antoinette Spilotro. Survived by his loving wife Kathie Spilotro (Ritchie). Loving brother to Vincent, Victor, Anthony, John, and Michael Spilotro. Loving father to Mark (Jill), Patrick (Julianne), Michael (Zulma), Kristine, Danny (Leslie), John (Elizabeth), Paul (Danielle), Mary (Patrick), Ann, Diana, Jeanne (Stuart), and Jennifer (Todd). Loving grandfather to Livia (Arturo), Talia, Celia, Sophia, Angela, Matthew, Isabella, Michael jr., Maximillian, Joseph, Sabrina, Mary, Krissy, Michael, Serafina, Dominic, Mia, Daniel, Nicholas, Bo, James Philip, Alaria, Alexander, Andrew, Caeley, Braya, Megan, CJ, Charlotte, Stella, Scarlet, Mazzy, Daphne, and Uma. Loving Great grandfather to Samson, Fleur-Marie, Felix, Cade, and baby Aria. Loving Uncle of many nieces and nephews and many cousins, second cousins, and those he considered family. Patrick embraced life immeasurably, touching the lives and hearts of so many along the way. Never a dull moment, always sharp, most depthful, sincere, honest, heartfelt, realistic, pointed, compassionate, with countless friends and times shared. Patrick was a graduate of Lane Tech and worked 37 jobs in life. A graduate of Loyola University Dental School '62. Patrick earned the rank of captain in the United States Air Force serving in Libya 1962-4. While serving, he started his family with Donna Spilotro, embarking on an odyssey raising family, supporting family, and cherishing friendships along the way. Dad's feats and deeds all too numerous for listing, here we smile in memory. Patrick's ability to encourage and understand loved ones, friends, associates, friends of children, spouses, neighbors and many others in this shared journey was one of his strengths. Patrick loved to drive his 1950 mercury in his latter years. He undoubtedly enjoyed his collection of signed dollar bills from gin rummy and backgammon. Seeing his kids and grandkids kept an innocent and competitive youth in him. In retirement, he and Kathie travelled visiting friends and family. He loved baseball and lived with a sense of right and strength of direction. He was capable of opinion with substance, and all who spent time with Patrick at one time laughed until it hurt. Maybe cried. And always lived. Patrick lived and died a believer in Christ, tending to always give respect and love first to others, selflessly, rising up. Keep Rising dad. We know you never quit. We know you will be in the Embrace of your loved ones you have missed. May your soul be held warm in Eternity.

My deepest condolences to the Family of Dr. Pat Spilotro. We worked together at a group dental practice 43 years ago. He was a fine colleague, wonderful friend and mentor. He impressed me as loving father and was a role model to the young dentists such as myself that worked with him. He will be missed. Godbless the Spilotro Family.
