TOLAND PATRICK (PADDY) aged 15 years
26th January 2012
The parents, Garry and Helen, brother James and sisters Gemma and April of the late Patrick, wish to express our sincere gratitude to all who supported and sympathised with us during Patrick's brief illness and untimely death. Thank you to everyone who called at our home, telephoned, sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers and wreaths. To Ciara and Doherty's Bakery and to all our neighbours and friends who brought food and refreshments. A special mention to Marie, Maureen, Christine, Fran, Anna, Elaine, Deirdre, Anita and Ailish for their help during the wake, and also to relatives and friends who travelled from London, Germany, Glasgow, Dublin and Belfast. We would also like to say a special thankyou to the staff and patrons of the Crescent Bar for their support. Thank you to Dr Sinead Campbell and Dr Nicola Duffy at Oakleaf Medical Practice; Dr Fergal McNicholl and all the staff in the Sperrin Ward, Altnagelvin Hospital; Dr Damien Finnegan and all the staff at the Haematology Ward, Belfast City Hospital; Dr Anthony McCarthy, Dr Christine McCartney, Dr Carol Cairns and all the staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children, both Haematology and PICU, who were relentless in their efforts and treatment of Patrick, with a special thanks to all the nurses who cared for and attended him. Thank you also to Gillian from CLIC Sargent for Children with Cancer for her dedication. A sincere thank-you to Fr Mongan, Fr McCaughey and Fr McGirr who came and prayed with us, providing great comfort and consolation, on their many visits to the wake. We would also like to thank the staff and pupils of Lumen Christi College, and the staff and former pupils of St Eugene's Primary School who came to our home to offer their condolences. To all Patrick's friends who attended the wake and funeral, representing their schools with great dignity. A sincere thanks to Fr Mongan for such a moving requiem mass for Patrick and to Monsignor Martin for concelebrating and to Mrs Margaret Burns, Mr Brendan McGinn, Mr John Peoples, Miss Priscilla Connelly, the Choir and soloists of St Columb's College for such poignant music. A special thanks to the Year 11 group who performed a touching guard of honour and also to the Principal, Sean McGinty, and the staff of St Columb's College for their kindness and support over such a difficult time for us. Thanks to Laurence for the reading and to Patrick's friends, Eoin, Sean, Oran, Adam and Conor for their courage in reading the Prayers of the Faithful; to Rachael who helped carry the Gifts and to all Patrick's friends who helped carry his coffin with great decorum, and to Donncha who delivered a fitting eulogy to Patrick. A special thanks to Bradley & McLaughlin Funeral Directors for their dignified and professional handling of the funeral arrangements. We were truly overwhelmed by the faith of those who were praying for Patrick and the family. It brought us so much comfort. There are no words to express our gratitude or heartfelt thanks to so many people who helped in so many ways but we'd like to say a special thanks to Mammy, Mary-Jo & Patricia for always being there for us. We thank everyone for their continued kindness at this our most difficult time. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
