Patrick WILSON Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal from Sep. 30 to Oct. 3, 2015.
WILSON, Patrick Albert
October 9, 1956 – September 26, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a loving, thoughtful and generous man who greatly touched everyone he met. Patrick Albert Wilson, the founder and owner of Camex Equipment, passed away on September 26, 2015.
Pat Wilson was born in Barrhead, Alberta and was a long-time resident of Edmonton. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family, godchildren, colleagues, and immeasurable friends and associates. He leaves to mourn his life-partner Beverly Lazorko, brothers Neil Wilson, Douglas (Laurie) Wilson, sister Olly (Michael) Morrison, Bev's parents and extended family, and numerous nephews and nieces. Pat was predeceased by his father Leslie and mother Eveline.
Pat honed his extensive entrepreneurial skills at an early age with many ventures, culminating in the success of Camex Equipment. Pat started Camex Equipment in August of 1992 out of the back of his pickup truck and the help of one employee. Over the years Pat's savvy business sense and entrepreneurial spirit enabled the company to grow into a worldwide leader in innovative oilfield transportation solutions with many associates, all of whom Pat was quick to credit with the success of Camex. This success was also recognized two years in a row as Pat was previously and is currently a finalist in the prestigious EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program.
After meeting the love of his life Beverly Lazorko, Pat and Bev enjoyed a full and rewarding life filled with travel to every corner of the globe, good food and great wine, the company of many friends and business associates and a shared passion for sports and healthy living.
Pat was a driven business-man but also had a humble and generous spirit. Over the last 35 years he was actively involved in Leduc and Edmonton rugby associations, one of his ardent pursuits. The Leduc rugby club house was recently named the "Pat Wilson Rugby House" in recognition of his ongoing commitment and generous contributions. For seven years Pat also freely volunteered his time to drive the Sunday school bus for his church. The Spirit of Giving Award through the Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce was named to honour Camex when Pat fully sponsored the program. Over the years Pat has been instrumental in helping others start their own successful businesses. Pat and Camex have also been proud to assist numerous local sports teams and athletes, in addition to charities such as the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, STARS, and many, many more.
Special thanks to Dr. Todd McMullen of the University Hospital, Dr. Michael Smylie of the Cross Cancer Institute, Dr. Sarah Burton-MacLeod and the nurses of the Grey Nuns Hospital for their caring and valiant efforts.
A funeral service to celebrate Pat's life will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Southside Pentecostal Assembly, 2821 – 109 Street NW, Edmonton. Pat will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Assiniboine, AB on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be directed in Pat's memory to support Dr. Todd McMullen, Oncology Research Div. c\o the University Hospital Foundation, 1H1.91MC, 8440-112 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 2B7.

Pat was a gracious man, who gave many young business men in the Nisku /Leduc area an opportunity to exceed, I know I was one of them many years ago. Pat had a very calm way of making one feel welcome. His work ethic, and his charitable giving, will always be admired. This man is going to be sincerely missed by his loved ones, and all that he has worked with over the years.
Rest in peace my friend.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Pat soon after he started Camex in 1990. At the time had a small shop and one mechanic, Through the years we dealt on various pieces of new equipment all for export to Russia. Pat was great guy, he was straight as they say in the business and a pleasure to visit and deal with, He was a very good friend and we will miss him our condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

Pat was an amazing man who always took the time to guide and provide me with advice when I needed it. He happily supported me in my pursuit of a crazy dream after just meeting me once. It's difficult to properly find the adjectives to describe a person of his caliber. May he rest in peace, he was so gracious.
