Patsy Coulter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 28, 2023.
Patsy was born in Houston, Texas, on March 13, 1930, to Clarence Linden Parker of Willis, Texas, and Jessie Judean (Shaffer) Parker of Lexington, Texas. She was the granddaughter of Dr. Claude "Grampa Doctor" and Elizabeth "Roni" (Ellis) Shaffer of Lexington, and William Jackson and Mattie Wise Parker of Houston.

She was raised in West University and graduated from Lamar High School. She had two brothers, Clarence Shaffer "Bubba" Parker and Jack Lyndon Parker. They all grew up as part of a very large extended family of 28 aunts and uncles and 22 cousins. (Grampa Doctor married twice and had 10 children.)

In 1950, Patsy married Odelle DeBruhl, Jr, and her first son, Michael Odell, was born in 1951. Patsy and Odelle divorced, and she later married Thomas Ward Coulter of Houston. Together they had two sons: Gregory Ward and Thomas "Tommy" Linden. They raised their family in West University and Larchmont of Houston, while Patsy worked for 13 years as a legal secretary for the law firm of Devlin, Naylor & Walker of Houston. They spent many happy times at their small family farmhouse that they renovated together in Moulton, Texas. Patsy was also an enthusiastic hostess for large family gatherings for nearly every holiday, providing all of us with so many wonderful memories to share. Patsy and Tom were married until his passing in 2014.

Patsy is preceded in passing by Tom, sons Michael and Greg; parents Clarence (Padre) and Jesse (Madre); brother Jack and sister-in-law Sybil Miles Parker; brother Clarence S. Parker, Col. USAF (Ret.), and niece Sharon Parker Robinson.

She is survived by her son, Tommy of Houston; sister-in-law Dorothy Lee (Sanderson) Parker of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Coulter, granddaughter, Andrea Brenneise, partner Jason Waldron, and great-granddaughter, Reese, all of Colorado; niece Jill Parker Criswell of Ennis, Texas; nephew Jack (Andy) Parker and wife, Vicki, of Houston; nephew Dr. Dale Allbritton, his wife, Alice, and great-niece, April Allbritton, all of Houston; and niece Judy Parker Elias and her husband, Kenneth, of Virginia.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Farrington of Tanglewood for the support and care they provided for Patsy over the years. Their care and friendship gave her much happiness and will always be remembered by her grateful family.

We miss you, Patsy, but we know you are having a wonderful time with family and friends.

I´m so sorry to hear of Patsy´s passing. She and my Mom grew up together in West University. (Emily Bertelsen Petrlak) They "found" each other again as adults and were in a bridge group of several of their childhood friends for years! They were all so fun to watch together!
I took Patsy to a few of their friend´s funerals years ago. She was such a dear woman! She was my last connection to my Mom and her friends.
I´d tried calling her number on her birthday for several years, but never got an answer. I suppose she had moved to a he Farrington.
I´m sorry I didn´t get to tell her how special she was after my mother passed away.
I know the reunion in heaven was spectacular with family and friends!! I can only imagine the joy!

Prayers of comfort and peace for Patsy and all who loved her.
