Patsy Kurtz left this world for a much better one with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 7, 2016.
Pat, as she was known by many, was born in Larned, Kansas in 1935 to Chester and Edna Bradshaw, who predeceased her many years ago. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of almost 58 years, Donald Kurtz, who has been her constant companion, caretaker, and best friend. She also leaves behind her children, Paula Abbott and Eric Kurtz; her son-in-law, John Abbott; her granddaughters, Sara and Rachel Abbott; her sister, Priscilla Damante; and many relatives and friends.
Pat was a teacher at heart and taught elementary school for over 40 years. Even in her later years, it wasn't unusual for former students to tell her that they remembered her and to thank her.
Pat and Don are known for their kindness and generosity. They resided in Bakersfield for the past 20 years after living in Buttonwillow for over 25 years.
The family would like to thank all of Pat's caregivers for their compassion, with special thanks to the staff at San Joaquin Hospital and Hoffman Hospice Home.
Visitation and viewing will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 4:00-8:00pm with a graveside service on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, CA.

Don, I am so sorry to hear about Pat. She was such a dear sweet soul. I remember the two of you coming in at Spencers so many mornings. My heart was saddened when I asked about her and I was told she had past on to what we know as a place of peace. She has been missed very much by me when I would go into Spencers and you and she weren't there. May God give you peace and strength. You were such a good caretaker and was appreciated by many. God Bless you as you continue your life without her. I know how hard it must be for you.
Sincerely
Sherle

Mr. Don Kurtz,
It was really sad for me and Alice and our family to hear that you have lost Pat your long time companion and love. I still remember like it was yesterday that you were giving her flowers and then going on your anniversary trips. Pat was always really nice with our family. We will always remember her and we will always keep you and your family in our prayers. Please receive our condolences with the deepest sympathy and love.

Paula -Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have many fond memories my "second mom" and hanging out at your Buttonwillow house. I wish I could be there for the service to pay my respects, but I will be there in spirit!
