Patti Lynn Meraz (James) was born on May 31, 1959 to Melvin James Sr. and Edna Frances Kibby, and began her journey to the spirit world on January 10th, 2023.
Patti was a proud member of the Wiyot Tribe and was a direct lineal descendant of Captain Jim of Tuluwat Island. Patti lived most of her life in Loleta Ca. residing on the Table Bluff Reservation, she was so fond of her million dollar view overlooking Humboldt bay that she refused to let anyone put up curtains for her. Anyone that knew Patti knew she was a master crafter. She loved beading, sewing, and making dresses and quilts for her grandkids. She also taught beading classes in the early 90’s but her favorite students were always her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
One of Patti’s favorite past times was playing Bingo and casino outings with Uncle Willie. When she was home she enjoyed listening to music, crafting and watching T.V., usually the Home Shopping Network where she spent many hours picking out jewelry and watches, of which she often gifted to family and friends because she was just such a loving person with a giving heart. Patti was very proud of many things in her life, but she was the proudest when it came to her sons, her three boys, she absolutely adored them. She also loved her little dog Caesar to no end, her daughter in law often joked that Caesar was her fourth son.
Patti is proceeded in death by her parents Melvin James Sr. and Edna Kibby, Uncle William Seidner, brother Melvin (Yo-Yo) James Jr., and sister Pamela James. Patti is survived by her siblings Alzada (Sandy) Duncan, Lori Clark, Louis Seidner, Marie (Hankie) Pike, Susie Wilson and Douglas James, her sons, Randall Mead Jr. (Betty Owen-Mead), Brian Mead Sr. (Rosanna Owen), Vernon Crummett. Grandchildren Hailey, William, Helynn, Michael, Brian Jr, Donivan, Connor, Dylan, Declan, Kasen and Kyle.
Pallbearers are Randall Mead Jr., Brian Mead Sr., Vernon Crummett, Hailey Mead, Donivan Mead, and Jody Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are Douglas James, Brian Mead jr., William Mead, Declan Koen, Kyle Gildesgard and Ronald Johnson.
Viewing will be Sunday January 22, 2023 11:00am at Gobles Fortuna Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Table Bluff Cemetery in Loleta, tentatively at 1pm. Concluding with a potluck reception to follow at The Wiyot Tribe, Tablebluff 1000 Wiyot Dr., Loleta Ca.
