Paul Erickson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 11, 2025.
On September 8, 2025, Paul Erickson passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife of 68 years, Arlene. He was 92 years young and faced his battles with leukemia and heart failure with grace and courage.

Paul was born on November 29, 1932, in Superior, Wisconsin. He graduated as valedictorian from Port Washington High School and went on to earn a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

After graduation, Paul married Arlene and moved to Colorado, where he fulfilled his commitment as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and played a role in building the U.S. Air Force Academy. He later became a pioneer in the field of environmental engineering, designing wastewater treatment systems around the world-a career that left a lasting impact on countless communities. He ended his engineering career as president of the company he founded, Animal Nutrients, Inc., a collagen-based animal feed business, recycling waste from the tanning industry.

He was an active member of Fox Point Lutheran Church for over 60 years and served in many capacities including Council President, Sunday school teacher, bell choir member, and the senior group, Young at Heart.

Paul's greatest love was his family. He cherished his wife, Arlene, his daughter Elyse, and her family: husband Andy, and granddaughters Erika (Bryce) and Natalie (James). Known for his endless repertoire of shaggy dog stories and jokes, Paul also took great joy in cheering on his beloved Packers and Badgers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Clarice Erickson and his beloved in-laws John and Ruth Treps. In addition to his immediate family, Paul is survived by brothers David, Jim, and John, brother in-law John (Kay) Treps, sister in-law Ruthann (Alan) Angrick, and many nieces and nephews.

Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Fox Point Lutheran Church, 7510 N Santa Monica Blvd. Fox Point, WI. There will be a gathering following the service at the church. Contributions in his memory can be made to Fox Point Lutheran Church.
