Paul E. Fister, 89 years, of Topton, formerly of Allentown, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the Henry Health Care Center on the campus of the Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Betty I. (Hausman) Fister. The couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 17. Born in New Tripoli on January 25, 1918, Paul was the son of the late Edwin J. and Margaret E. (Howerter) Fister. He was employed as a cook at the Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Allentown, for 17 years before retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he worked for the former Thomass Diner, in Allentown, for 31 years. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the Army during World War II, was a member of the Ray A. Master American Legion Post 217, Topton, a life member of the Friends of the Lutheran Home at Topton, member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Topton. Survivors: Wife; son, James R. Fister and his wife Pamela of Pittsburgh; brother, William J. Fister of Slatington; sisters, Eleanor A. Snyder and her husband Lester, Alma C. Koch and her husband Kenneth, all of New Tripoli; sister-in-law, Anna A. Fister of New Tripoli. He was predeceased by brothers, Ralph and George Fister. Services: Memorial services will be 11:00 am. Friday, October 12, 2007, in the Multi-Purpose Room on the Campus of the Lutheran Home at Topton. No calling hours. Private interment will take place at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, New Tripoli. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.
