Sharon Ann "Cheri" Levy, 71, a resident of Deming, passed away Saturday January 8, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
Cheri was born September 26, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois and was a bookkeeper having worked in the field of printing and also the Hotel Industry. She and her husband came to Deming in January 1996 and locally owned and operated the Teapot Dome until their retirement. Being active in the local community Cheri was former Executive Director and served on the Board of Directors of the Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County, and also served on the board of Directors of the Deming Senior Center and the Commission on Aging.
She is survived by her husband, Martin "Marty" Levy of Deming; brothers, James Finley and his wife Lauren of Charlotte, NC, Douglas Finley of Withamsville, OH ; sisters, Judith Tatera of Vanzant, MO, Maryfrances Gillen of Deming; cousin, Janet Ezop of Warrenville, IL, and 18 nieces and nephews.
Cheri was preceded in death by her mother and father, Evelyn and Edward Finley and by 1 brother, David Finley.
In lieu of flowers family requests that memorial contributions in Cheri's memory be made to the Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County, P.O. Box 1746, Deming, NM 88031.

We are so glad to have visited with Aunt Sharon, Aunt Mary and Grandma Evelyn on our way out to California. We often think fondly about that visit. You'll be in our thoughts Uncle Marty, Aunt Mary and Joseph.

Our heartfelt condolences to Marty and family. Cheri was inspiration to all cancer patients and a great leader to our Cancer Support Group. Moving from the East coast after a bout with Ovarian Cancer and Clinical trial Cheri welcomed us to life in a small town.
