PAUL MERCURIO Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 4 to Sep. 5, 2014.
MERCURIO
PAUL, Jr.
Age 90, of Natrona Heights, affectionately known as Junior by his family, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Born July 17, 1924, in Tarentum, to the late Paul and Charlotte Mercurio. Paul was so pleased to have been able to celebrate his 90th birthday. Devoted and beloved husband of 64 years to the late Margaret (Raimondi) Mercurio; affectionate and loving father of Nancy (Ronald) White, of Fox Chapel, Penny Jo Troutman (Ted Corbett), of Natrona Heights, Melanie (Jim) Gove, of Peters Township, and Paul B. (Lainie) Mercurio, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; proud grandfather of Larry W. (Jennifer) Troutman, Jr., Scott A. Troutman, Ronald (Boo) White, Jr., Jeffrey Paul White, Brianna Gove, Paul, Mary, Veronica, Annie, and Peter Mercurio; great-grandfather of Madison, Maegan, Abigail, Caitlin and Brayden Troutman; and brother of the late Michael Mercurio, Sarah Demma, Sam Mercurio, Angie Huet, Rose Trevari, Mary Ann Sawhook; and living brother, Joseph Mercurio; and brother-in-law, Albert (Flo) Raimondi of Natrona Heights. Paul lived in Tarentum and Natrona Heights and was employed and retired from PPG Industries in Creighton. He also spent countless hours tending to the family-owned Raimondi's Tavern in Tarentum. Paul was a US Army World War II veteran and a member of the 4th Armored Division. He served in the European theatre under adverse battle conditions, in England, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Czechoslovakia, and Germany. He was honored to have served under General Patton and his army days and stories, especially the Battle of the Bulge, were often shared with his family. Paul was awarded the European- African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, a presidential unit citation, the WWII Victory Medal, a good conduct medal, and (five) battle stars. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. Paul was a member and ushered for many years at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Natrona Heights. Paul touched the lives of everyone he met with his sense of humor and kind, loving and giving heart. In his retirement years, his greatest pleasure was spending countless hours with Marge and their children and grandchildren, vacationing in Marco Island, and a sports enthusiast. He was an avid Steeler fan, always nervous before the big game every Sunday! He will be truly missed by everyone whose life he touched! Because he lived, there is more love in the world than there would have been without him, and for dad, that was the reason above all others for the gift of life. His love will be forever cherished by his son, daughters, grandchildren, and those who had the privilege of knowing him. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, PA 15084, 724-224-1526. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Martyrs Parish at 344 W. 9th Avenue, Tarentum, with the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss, officiating. Entombment in Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, Frazer Township, with full military honors, by Tarentum VFW Post #5758. Visit:

My deepest sympathy to all of you. This is Sue, the receptionist at Rebecca Residence. I was so shocked and saddened when I heard about your dad's passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. It was such a pleasure meeting and talking to you these past couple of months. I am so very sorry for your loss.
