Paul J. Remick

Paul J. Remick of Dunmore, a well known area florist, died Thursday at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Anne Shemet.

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Frank and Julia V. Szerafinski Remick, and was a graduate of Dickson City High School. Before his retirement, he was founder and owner of Remick Floral & Gift Shop of Scranton. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Scranton, and The Country Club of Scranton. He was a member of the North Scranton Rotary.

Paul enjoyed the game of golf, which he played for decades, and during which he made many, many friends. He was a charter member of the North Scranton Rotary, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He gained great satisfaction volunteering for the organization. He enjoyed his retirement years in Jupiter, Fla., and Lake Winola. He was an accomplished trumpet player in his young adulthood, and played in popular bands, a practice he continued throughout his life.

Also surviving are two sons, Dr. Paul F. and wife, Chris Remick of Clarks Summit; Gerald Remick of Scranton; two daughters, Mary and husband, Michael J. Stoko of Lake Winola; and Carol and husband, Joseph Oliver of Lake Winola; a sister, Joan and husband, Ronald Yagelski of Dickson City; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Entombment St. Mary's Visitation Cemetery, Dickson City. Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. All those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to the church on Monday.
