In Loving Memory of Paula Katzman

PaulaJane Katzman, aged 72, of Bloomfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Paula was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Paula was born on August 15, 1951, to Raymond and MaryJane Bouchard. She grew up in a loving household in Hartford, CT, alongside her brothers, Richard and Raymond Bouchard, both of whom predeceased her.

Paula's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Marc Katzman, who was her loving partner and best friend of 40 years. Together, they lived a life filled with love and shared many beautiful moments. Paula was a dedicated mother to her three sons, Normand (Leslie), Jamie (Jennifer), and Jason Rainville, as well as her stepdaughters Briana Clark and Morgan Pappalardo.

As a grandmother and matriarch, Paula found immense happiness in her grandchildren, Yvan, Tayler, Andre, and Ian Rainville, as well as Brody and Summer Clark, and Laela and Judah Pappalardo. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. Paula's nurturing spirit extended to her sister-in-law, Patricia Bouchard, and her niece and nephew, Raymond (Kelsey) Bouchard and Rachel (Ryan) Richard, and her great-nephew Wesley, all of whom she loved dearly. Her family was her pride and joy, and she nurtured them with endless love, support, and wisdom.

Paula's life was marked by her generosity, kindness, and the deep connections she formed with those around her. Her home was a testament to her unrivaled creativity, filled with her treasured plants and DIY projects that showcased her amazing creativity and talents, many of which reflected her love for bright colors, especially her favorite, purple. Paula's cooking, particularly her world-class Italian cuisine, was appreciated by all. Her home was always open and inviting, whether it was for a family dinner, a friend party, a joyous holiday gathering, or the occasional summer pig roast.

One of Paula's greatest passions was riding Harley's on sunny days with her husband and friends, with favored destinations including the beach, Park Place Café and anywhere family and friends gathered. This adventurous spirit was a hallmark of her character, along with her unique insights and strong personality.

Paula had many friends whom she loved dearly. Those she liked, she loved with all her heart. Those she did not like, they knew it. Her honesty and straightforwardness were among her highest qualities, along with emotional and physical strength and dogged determination.

Paula's family and friends will always be rooted in the traditions, values, and love that she shared with all of us. Her legacy is one of compassion, strength, and unwavering love, values instilled in her by her parents and which she passionately passed down to her children and grandchildren. Paula's life was a beacon of light and inspiration, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Paula was respected and admired by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her strength, grace, and loving spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Paula's life will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Sheehan Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home in West Hartford, Connecticut. Mass will be held on Friday, May 24th at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Sorrows on Greenwood Street, Hartford, followed by a private burial. One of Paula's last requests was that her family and friends enjoy a Margarita in her honor and forever keep her in their hearts and minds as they enjoy the beautiful life that she always enjoyed with them.

Rest in peace, beloved Paula. Your love and legacy will forever be a part of us.

I knew Paulajane as one Tough Chick!!!

Always is self deprecating joke or a comfort to me as your healthcare worker just a beautiful person.

I was her physical therapist.
She came in to my arms ready to fight and we did!!!! She inspired me as did Marc
The day she left me, I asked her good friend. To send my love.
I can't remember her friends name. But she said don't worry. My big sister is going to fight this and she will be back to work with you.
I never got to talk to you guys, but I want to let you know how much I admired her

Those special moments of you will always bring a smile if I could only bring you back for just a little while. Then we could sit & talk again, just like we did when Dominick & I came to visit you & Mark. In these past few months, I´ve admired your courageous attitude and the new friendship I gained in having a friend like you. You will forever be in our hearts and until we meet again.

Paula & I were friends for 50 + years . Her & I would always find something to laugh about. We would laugh so hard tears would run down our faces. I remember one time Were at the Hour Glass having a cocktail when the bartender brings me a drink. He says the guy at the end of bar told me to tell you, you have beautiful feet. Well the was it we laughed all nite long every time we looked at each other. I remember going camping with her husband & kids & her & brother Rick. Her brother had very expensive new work boots. He took them off to dry them off . All of a sudden Paula says what’s burning it was Rick’s boots. Paula's I will miss you terribly. RIP my friend until we meet again.

Paula & I were friends for 50 years. We had so many, many good times. We almost always found something to laugh about. We would laugh so hard tears would run down our face & we would almost pee our pants. LOL. One of those was in a bar having a few cocktails and the bar tender brings me a drink, of course I asked where it came from, he points to a guy he says him. He told me to tell you have beautiful feet. Well let me tell you that was it for the nite. We laughed ever time we looked at. Each other. One time I went camping with her husband, & her brother Rick. I never forgot this . Her brother put his expensive new shoes on the rocks in front of the camp fire to dry.
All of a sudden Paula says what is burning. It was her brothers shoes. Paula, I am going to miss you awful. LOVE you RIP until we meet again.

My memories of PaulJane go back to when we were very young and everyone in the family met at our grandmothers house. Times changed and we met at her mother´s house, my Aunt MaryJane, for the important holidays. We grew up and continued to touch base throughout our lives. I´m very grateful to of had her for my cousin. I´ll remember her with loving thoughts throughout the rest of my life.
