Pauline N. "Polly" Cogswell

COGSWELL Pauline (Polly) N. Cogswell, age 86, formerly of Fairfield, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Ashlar of Newtown. She was the widow of Victor C. Cogswell. Mrs. Cogswell was born on June 8, 1917, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Walter C. and Cora (Wintter) North. A graduate of Skidmore College, and a lifetime member of United Congregational Church in Bridgeport, she was a Fairfield resident most of her life. She was a former member of Brooklawn Country Club and Fairfield Beach Club, where she enjoyed two of her favorite pursuits - tennis and swimming. She was a member of the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County, The House and Garden Club of Greater Bridgeport, The Ladies Charitable Society, and the former Fanny Crosby Home. She is survived by a son, Eric N. Cogswell, of Napa, Calif.; a daughter, Deborah C. Eisenman and her husband, Robert, of Southbury; a grandson, Donning Kelley and his wife, Melissa, of Northbridge, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Philippe, and Julia Kelley; a cousin, William Wintter of Southport; a niece, Melora North, of Orleans, Mass.; and a nephew, Walter North, of New Delhi, India. She was predeceased by a brother, Walter E. North. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2003, in Howland Chapel of United Congregational Church, Park Avenue and State Street, Bridgeport. Family will greet well-wishers in the Guild Room of the Church immediately following the service. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. The Spear Funeral Home, 39 S. Benson Road, Fairfield, is in charge of arrangements.
