PEDRO CAÑAS Obituary
PEDRO "PETE" CAÑAS JR.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Consuelo (Connie) Cañas; son, Adrian Cañas and wife Becky; daughters, Melva Cañas Flores and husband David, and Gloria Cañas Lara and husband Benjamin; four grandchildren, Marissa and Alyssa Cañas, Ben Lara Jr. and Hillary Lara; and three sisters, Maria Pena and husband Manuel, San Juana Boehl of San Diego, Texas and Dominga Gonzales and husband Preciliano of Alice.
Pedro was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church where he was active in the CYO (1977-1985) and a member of the OLS Knights of Columbus. He was a generous man who was loved by all. He will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Cañas Sr., San Juana Cañas; and brother, Ricardo Cañas; grand-daughter, Julia Izabelle Flores.
The family will receive visitors at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Artero Memorial Chapels, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Ruben Rangel, Ricardo Rangel, Raul Rangel, Preciliano Gonzalez, Frank Hernandez and Raymond Garcia.
Under the direction of Artero Memorial Chapels, Victoria, 361-575-3212.

My heart goes out to you. Losing a loved one is very difficult to understand. Just know that he is with the Lord in a better place and is at peace. I know how devastating this disease can be. My prayers go out to all of you and to all the folks and families affected by Alzheimers. God Bless you all.
